does anyone know where i would begin to look for removing the XP cap when fighting barbarian units?

right now its capped at 10xp, but i would like to remove that cap.

thanks

Look in GlobalDefines.xml
ANIMAL_MAX_XP_VALUE and BARBARIAN_MAX_XP_VALUE. But, beware. Setting it too high can make barbarians xp farms (I got two archers with all possible upgrades in one game with extremely high barbarian settings :))

OHH SWEET !!

i didnt even see there were xml files in the root of XML itself..LOL

i had looked through the rest in the subfolders and was figuring it was hard coded

thanks...now i can finish tweaking my barbarian horde mod

When I adjust data in GlobalDefines.xml I get a "Acces denied" notification. Can someone help?

The_J, Thanks for the warm welcome, I may be new here at the forum, but I started playing Civ more than 10 years ago and am still a fan.

Yes, I do use Windows 7. I rightclicked the designated folder and de-marked the "read only" box and confirmed the operation, a Windows pop-up says the administrator needs to confirm, as I am the admin (I use my own personal PC) and using the admin-account I grant myself permission. But when I right-click again on the folder, the box is marked again for "read only".

Any ideas?

Happened to me on Win 7 too. One "easy" fix is to reinstall Civ in a non Program Files directory.

If you want to keep it where it is, edit the folder permissions to say that <Your commonly used admin username> is the owner.

Turn off UAC.
No offense Afforess, but disabling UAC is an easy way to make your computer much more vulnerable. With most recent studies showing that virus scanners miss a lot of malware, UAC is a good thing to have.

If you're savvy enough to be editing XML, you're savvy enough to turn off UAC. It's like taking training wheels off a bike.;)

I am savvy enough to edit xml files, but I'm not savvy enough to reconfigure UAC, I don't even know what UAC means..
