I've set up this thread to let some friends download my mod, and any civfanatics who
are interested in trying a new WWII mod, one with a few twists... Including UFOs and
all-custom leaderheads, flics and numerous additions to the cityscreen, wonders and
many many customized units. Like pikemen, the Vatican Guard, who wear the traditional
medieval garb untill they're attacked, when they use a machinegun graphic.

New Alliance Structure For Version 5 With Capital Letters

WWII Atlantic-Mediterranean theatres, the six major nations plus 13 minor ones thrown
into the mix. Locked Alliance of England-Canada, Egypt and Neutral Europe, and
the LA of Germany and Fascist Italy. America and Russia can go either way. France is neutral, although will very likely be attacked by the Axis...
There are no locked wars--the Axis must bear the burden of declaring war, else the Allies are overloaded with War Weariness...

Load times are about 45 minutes, but I've included a beginning save for all 6 major
players, and a saved game will load in about 2 minutes.

I have to apolagize profusely for the manual-extracting of all these folders; it's the only
way I could arrange to get this thing uploaded (no FTP software yet) and I was getting
overworked MAKING this thing, I wanted to get in some actual playing. This is tested
numerous times, but any comments CivFanatics can make would be appreciated!

I'm using several of the default units, like Worker, Cruiser, etc, but I also
assume I don't need to upload these units, since they are referenced in the PediaIcons
file, but I don't have them in my own Scenario folder, and the game plays fine without
the unit folder copied. Let me know in this forum or by PM if there is any unit not showing up in-game
and I'll upload it.

Make sure you create the new folder called Th_R_five. Early this morning I edited this post using "Th_R_5" which is the name of the biq file, not the search folder...

My soul is Irish. Relatives too. Guess that makes me too...

BTW, Civilopedia entries have been cleaned up a little.

(EDIT)
TextV3.zip is the most recent version. (as of 1/14/06)

Carry on.

EDIT:

All files in the above post are up to date.

Looks cool, but I am a wimp and don't want to downlaod a hundred different things:p , anyway, when it gets condensed I will play it.

I'm posting this request in the C&C forum as well, but here is just as good:

I've been trying to find a unit grafix that would fit the Nazi pipedream of a "rocketeer"-type soldier--way beyond the "Wonder Weapons" stage, something that benefits from Nazi discoveries after finding and researching a UFO. I couldn't find anything, so I launched this scenario without one, but I accidentally found the perfect unit when downloading Kinboat's most excellent XCOM units. The X_Airborne is perfect. So I'm adding it to the scenario.

Problem is, I want to use the German word for such a unit, and I can't remember what the term was from the video "Nazi UFOs" which inspired this icredibly wierd mod.

I'm temporarily using the name "Uberfleugswehr" (over-fly-man?) but I don't know enough German to tell if that's right. Anybody out there know German enough to give me a suggestion what to call a soldier of the Reich who jetpacks into battle?

Thanks in advance,

Sorry, I'm a wimp too, when it comes to FTP. Downloading these folders is the only way I plan to show the mod. For now, at least...

I found a great grafix for the Nazi "Rocketeer" soldier (tentative name is "Uberfleugswehr" but I'm open to suggestions, some in the other thread are good...) and I have all the files updated for this scenario and are uploaded.

Updated files will include the UFO, Rocketeer, better Lite Tank, and pedia entries for all.

Thanks for posting, tricky. I've fixed these problems. All links in the above post are up to date and playable.

You won't need Stealth_Fighter.zip, instead I'm using Th_R_UFO.zip, which is uploaded.

I've uploaded Advisors2.zip so it should work now. If someone downloaded this during the Third_Reich8 layout, you should download these files: (the links are in the above list)

Third_Reich01.zip (this is complete and current and uploaded)
Th_R_Advisors2.zip (extract into Th_R_/Art)
Th_R_9units_32.zip (Th_R_/Art/Units)
Th_R_00Text.zip (Th_R_)
Th_R_9Civilopedia.zip (Th_R_/Art)
Th_R_UFO.zip (Th_R_/Art/Units)
Th_R_XAirborne.zip (Th_R_/Art/Units)
Th_R_Churchill.zip (Th_R_/Art/Units)

woo-ups!

Bavarian Aircraft Works. Small Wonder. Reich. File Not Found.

you can actually not get the game stopped if you download this file and extract it into your ..Th_R_/Art/Wonder Splash folder:

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads10/BayerischeSPLASH.zip

(Sorry!)

I'm working on the advisors. I know the pallettes are pretty messy, but I started with the notion that I wanted the images to be old, scratchy, newspaper-clipping quality, to reflect the times. But I may have gone too far on the cratchy part. I'm neatening them up, and adding Guisan, Franco, Ataturk, as-Said, ibn-Saud and the Latin American leaderheads as persons instead of flags.

BTW, it's my considered opinion after playing this some more, that the victory points need to be adjusted: 1 point for victory over unit, 10 for conquest, and all the Advances need LOTS more cost. It's too easy to get into modern before 1941 ffs...

Screenie. Not sure what would be the best, but Berlin shows some Civic Imps and resources. Reich is a tradeable (or can be captured) resource that allows a civ to build heavy technology like SS Tigers and Waffen SS troops. Only Germany, Scandinavia can build Waffen SS (racial priority) but Finland, Italy, Romania and some others can build Tigers, ME planes and jets, and eventually, an RFZ-1 (ufo) if they can find one to research on.

Civ Imps to the left: DHvSS is culture, Luminous Lodge is on the track for the RFZ-1. Wehrmacht is the old STzAoW. Gestapo HQ builds Gest. Police, which can detect and enslave the numerous spies. Already they've encountered several Soviet NKVD agents.

this screenshot is of the Panzer unit stationed in the advance on Jerusalem. Why Jerusalem? Because the Knights Templar is based on the Temple there. If Germany can hold Jerusalem (and get its SR) she can make Teutonic Knights, which can be "sacrificed" to become civic luminaries, providing culture to the Reich. Already, I've sacced enough POWs to make Germany second in world culture. First? Russia, of course. Russia also starts with 24% pop and territory, so a dominance victory is well in sight. This game isn't just about Germany. USA can provide France with resource to build Resistors, which have the largest bombard values of all spies. England holds most of the globe's VPLs. Only Brazil and Monrovia have VPLs not in England's control at game start. However, England will of course be playing a game of diplomacy, to acquire US support, but the African campaign is real. France is a sizeable presence there, and the LA makes their combined forces formidable...

You'll note by this screenshot that the unit has combat values multiplied by 10. All units have this trait. It's an experiment, and in all the games I've played, it works quite well. It's just an opinion, but it feels like the combat values are respected much better.

I have a hunch it has something to do with truncating decimals, but I certainly don't want to start a controversy on this subject...

After playing this more, I have cleaned up some details. I'm still working on the Leaderheads and their pallette issues, but unit stats and some city screen icons are now more appropriate.

Changes that are included in the most recent Third_Reich01 include better Subs and Uboats, accurate startup cities, increased UBoat staging at start, and MUCH better tech tree costs. Modern Age comes after 1942.

Sorry, compressing to two files or so requires FTP, and I don't have the software yet... Really sorry.

But to avoid compy blow-ups, just download as many folders as you can.

Strange drawback, an exploding comp. I assume it has something to do with your ISP? I've never had any trouble downloading numerous unit files in rapid succession, which by the way I've used extensively in this mod...

here's one screeny. It's the German assault on Canadian-England; Operation SeaLion forces England to withdraw its capitol to Canada, and the JFM has transported numerous SS units on-land as well as Uberfleugswehr units...

I'd change my ISP if I had to suffer that. Sorry Omega, I don't have FTP software, and I'd rather play. Rather than look it up, learn it, arrange with Thunderfall, etc...

Another option for me would be to find a free hosting site. Sigh. More surfing.

Anyhoo, if you have access to another compy, you could always just get a jumpdrive (15 bucks in Austin, IMS...) and download it at Kinkos. I'm not suggesting this just for my mod; it's very convenient, for drivers, demos, etc etc, since almost every comp has a USB port these days.
