Sorry about all the multiple posts. (I can't seem to delete them either). The origonal question was:

I'm just wanting to know how many people who bought the game are unable to play it due to technical issues (but NOT outdated computer issues)?

Edit: Just so people know, this poll was created in order to answer a question that was brought up on another thread. No other reason.

Nevermind. You got it working it seems.

I really just have the toast only problem, but otherwise gameplay is fine, the diplomacy exploit sometimes is too tempting though.

Yeah, I got the poll working...but I still can't figure out how to delete my previous attempts...any help?

Yes. It works perfectly. No lag. No noticable bugs. I'll be playing a few more rounds tonight...and hopefully getting to bed at a decent hour so I don't act like a zombie at work again tomorrow.

I voted "could play but won't due to major bugs" because that's how it was when I first bought it. Then I upgraded my system specifically to play CIV. How pathetic is that?

And the worst part is, I played it for a couple of days and then got so annoyed with slowdown on my upgraded system that I've more or less quit.

I'll still play, but I doubt for more than an hour a day. That's the time it takes me to get frustrated.

lol...Yeah, I would have done the same. You're in good company.

I can play on all three on my pc's but of course my newest one can handle huge maps well while my oldest pc can run on standard maps. On my new PC,I experience lag only when zoomed out (cloud level)when the whole map is revealed on huge maps.

First time I tried, it stalled after it tried generating the map and loading the game. So I went to the store and bought 512 MB Ram upping my system to 1GB

Second time with the extra ram it played on a standard map but scrolling around the screen was clunky and slower than I would have liked. It was still playable though and no crashes.

On my third game now and last night I used rivatuner and overclocked my GPU a bit and boosted my virtual memory to 1536 MB min and 1536 MB max (apparently equating the max and min reduces defragging the page files in VM, before it was set to 768MB min and 1536 MB max). Scrolling is now smooth on a standard map. Next game I'll try the next map size up and see how that goes.

My comp for anyone interested is a laptop with1.7Ghz Pentium M, 1GB ram, Nvidia Geforce Go5200 32M/64M...I've read the video card on my comp only actually has 32MB ram. I play the game on high graphics settings and resolution of 1280x768 (I think that res is right it is the higher res though)

For anyone having trouble I read through this thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=135231 and made some of the above changes based on suggestions in there and found it helped.

Above recommended specs, very well maintained system; could play it with CTD's but won't since CTD's also cause occasioanal BSOD's so I won't play it. Any game( or any software) that causes BSOD's is not worth potential data loss.

I just bought a new system, partly to be able to play CIV. Of course, I never expected it to run well on my old box.

Only partly? I bought a new computer for the sole purpose of civ4.
How many people paid 800 dollars for civ4!

Ironically yes it runs like a dream on my laptop (not a single crash in 4 long games) and no, can't run it at all on my desktop (but I know I could if I played around, the config is a bit iffy)

I runs great, no bugs or lag time. Before I loaded the game I upgraded the drivers for my video card. It may have been fine with the old ones but didn't want to take a chance with all the problems that were posted about ATI cards. My system is:
pentium 3.6, 1 gig ram, ATI X850 platinum XT 256 mb vid card

It works well enough. It runs a bit slow, and I got a pretty decent system amd 3500 2gb ram and geforce 6800, so I really had expected more, and a vey few times when ive loaded the game, it crashes. Nothing big, it can only get better with time(patches).

Since there has been a patch since this poll came out, it might be worth refershing it
