I got lucky about religion

This like my 10th Civ IV game and first time ever
I'm having this situation. At the begining for a long time
no one, except me and one another civ had religions.
We are on a terra map. And now 4 civs belive in
the religion I founded (which is Hinduism) It helps now and
I'm sure it will help even more in the future, given that
they won't convert to other religions.

Just wait till one of them founds Christianity or Islam and converts to it and pulls the rag from under everyone's feet...

I've seen them convert as soon as they either found a new one or if they get a majority of cities under a new religion.

It's a great start, though

I haven't really found a lot of use for making my religion spread to other civilization. Sure, they will like you a little more in Diplo, but is that all?

line of sight to those citys if you founded the religion and have that religion as state religion.

that means you see LOS to every city with said religion, how is this helpful? scouting. recon, your goign to war? nice to know what they have in their cities. so you can counter it.

income, if you have a holy city you can build its religions wonder there, and get +1 gold for every city that has the same religion each turn.

imagine every city on the globe having all religions and you controling every holy city.
