Please help me, i cant play Civ 4

Hi Everyone

i hope you can help me, i recently bought a new PC and with it Civ 4, i installed Civ 4 and Civ 3 Complete which i already owned, on my new PC and and had no problem, but once i tried to launch Civ 4 i got the initial loading screen but then the it crashed and i got the error message asking me if i wanted to send error report etc!! well i tried to lanch Civ 3, and same problem, i uninstalled and then reinstalled both games and same problem!! so i cannot play my new Civ 4 game or even my old Civ 3 game

yesterday i downloaded the Civ 4 demo, now this works perfectly and ive been playing it on my PC but it only makes want to play the full game more

can someone please help me out, why wont Civ 3 and 4 work when i try to launh them??? and yet the Civ 4 demo works perfect, infact its great!!

what are the specs of your new computer?

dont know, its a notebook PC and it was a gift, i guess the graphics card is good because the Civ 4 demo runs perfect, also as i said i have the same prob with Civ 3

If you right click anywhere on your desktop and go to properties
then go to settings it should tell you in there which graphics card you've got

i think thats it, it was 128 MB memory, sorry but i dont know much about computers

you might need to update your graphics drivers but with your cardIi have no idea where o get the drivers from.

i know, but the Civ 4 demo plays fine, so i doubt its the graphic card causing the problem, also as i said i have installed Civ 3 on my new PC and i have the same problem when trying to launch that, i think if i had a crack the games would work, then i wouldnt need the CDs to play the games, i mean the Civ 4 demo launches from the harddrive and it plays fine, i really dont know and im really desperate for help, i mean i cannot play Civ 4 or even Civ 3 and ive been hooked on that for the past 2 years! someone please help me

I understand that the install program scans your drive for any copying software - perhaps it detected something like that and that's what shut it down.

I have the same problem and i know its not the graphics card causing problems. I have a GForce Ti4600 and latest drivers so it should at least work.

i don't know about that some people (myself included) have found that using older drivers for the graphics works better than the latest ones.

if it doesnot have hardware T&L its not supported by the game
the game CAN work with tweaks, but its not supported

the graphics card i fine, the demo version works fine, maybe the copying software is a problem but i just bought the PC, maybe its the burning software that came with it, man i just want to play Civ again!
