after i win the first conquest i get to the last screen and hit exit and it crashes so i cant save it thus i cant beat the game and i dont know what to do. i have reinstalled a couple times and it didnt fix it so... help

More information would be useful. Screen shots, error messages, saves from just before the crash....that kind of thing.

hopefully you can help me at the end where it tells how i won an error comes up and it just says error signature civ3conquests.exe i have civ complete and it asks if i want to send an error report which i have done so that doesnt help so get back to me

Resurrecting this, as I've started getting the same error.

I have Civ3 Complete. Whenever I play a Conquest, at the end, as I go through endgame screens, when I exit the Victory Status screen (the last one, I think), instead of taking me back to the game and asking me if I want to continue, I get a fatal error:

Code:
AppName: civ3conquests.exe AppVer: 1.22.0.0 ModName: civ3conquests.exe
ModVer: 1.22.0.0 Offset: 0009b639

According to the error, I have the most recent version (1.22). I uninstalled and reinstalled. I went ahead and installed all three patches (Civ3 1.29f, PTW 1.27f and C3C 1.22f) just to be sure, but no change. I run a WinXP SP2 system with a NVidia GeForce card that has v84.21 drivers (I updated this, and my sound drivers, after reading Atari's generic help). The only programs I have running in the background are NAV and Trillian. This just started happening in the last couple days. Any help would be appreciated. Let me know specifics if additional info is needed. Thanks.

I run a 3.0 GHz XP SP2 machine, and I get the same errors after the end screens of the scenarios.

I recently downloaded and installed the latest patches, and I then loaded some saved scenarios and had the same result. Any ideas?

Well, I did another uninstall, deleted the Firaxis folder, emptied the recycle bin, shut the computer down (not restart), fired it back up after a couple minutes and reinstalled (no patches). Was able to complete a game. I'll try a different Conquest tomorrow and see if everything is still working.

I am having the same problem you are having with this. I just got the game, and it's doing exactly what you describe....crashing right before victory screen. I've reinstalled, done patches, turned off norton. Let me know if your method works and I'll give it a shot. Otherwise, other ideas anyone?

Well, the game I was able to complete earlier was one of the "tutorial" conquests, but as soon as I tried one of the regular conquests, I crashed. Due to an unrelated issue, I had to format and reinstall WinXP a couple days ago. I just tried Civ again, with a fresh OS install, and still crashed. I'm going to contact Firaxis/2K Games, as I feel cheated out of my money. Civ looks like a good game, but this is ridiculous.

Ok guys I got the answer for you , I happens to a lot of people. Check in your file called conquests there will be a file called CAMPAIN RECORD it will say HLF(hall of fame) below. this is the screen that keeps track of the Conquest mission complete progress for you. and will let you see the ending once you pass all the conquests!!!
OK go to "properties" at the bottom with a right click on this file. now you will see the read only box checked. uncheck it and save. Thats it. enjoy!

That did it, thanks!

For clarification, open properties on ..\Firaxis Games\Civilization III Complete\Conquests\CampaignRecord.hof, uncheck Read Only and Apply.

Ya don't cha just love this place, I had the same problem, Even the official tech team at the company had no freakin clue what was wrong. luckily I tracked down the answer from a obscure thread.about a year ago after going threw Conquest bug threads by the bunchs.
It was a one in a thousand find dam was I happy. now I can pass it down to you guys and when the next group gets stuck its your job. :p

That was one tough case to crack I hear its only a few run offs of Civ complete that were effected. On top of that, there was no help to be found from anyone! mainly because most others already had the cheaper Conquest expansion pac, of course the 15$ release worked fine. Many more who could have solved it never checked in to this place.

So you can Imagine how hard back then it was to find a answer. I wish I could remeber the guys name, he's creditated with saving hundreds of Civ addicts from going over the edge :suicide:

I gather the blame lies soley on some lazy programmers over at Fireaxis.
Later

I wish to confirm that this indeed works!! I believe this thread should be made sticky cos many people have this same problem! Great job in finding the solution!! What a simple troubleshooting exercise!

Good on ya! I solved this problem once before with patches, but I reformated, and patches wouldn't work anymore. I've seen the :king: of conquests video. Thanks for this :goodjob:

Cool. What was bad for me was beating RFRE only to have it crash each time it should have checked off the list.
Its a tough time to beat that one eh?. I had to do it over again, this time I tried launching it from the 'Content' menu. Course, no dice there ether d:
So ya, I was happy as can be to have er fixed up.
Happy civving

BTW.. I agree on the sticky. There been about 12 threads since this ;)
