Which drug (out of the two options - alcohol and marijuana) causes the most damage to individual and society IYO (in your opinion)?

Alcohol, marijuana never made me feel so sick as I did this morning :D . It gives false confidence and poor judgement at the same time, the more you drink, the stupider you get and you drink more! The absolute worst thing is that it is legal and stupid(drunk) people encourage you to get drunk(stupid) with them.

My choice, is alcohol by a landslide. I have seen a good friend destory his life with alcohol (and perscription drugs). Also the amount of car crashes and violent deaths related to alcohol probably is higher than marijuania related violence (except for the acquisation of it since it is illegal) by a hundred fold or more. Also, AFAIK, long term alcoholism will damage your brain and other organs a lot worse than long term marijuana use (though both will cause damage).

Note, I don't partake on either nor do I support either but I do find marijuana to be the lesser of two evils.

Numeral uno, Weed just makes you lazy, by the time your not lazy anymore your pretty much fine, Alchy gets people killed.

my knee jerk answer would be alcohol, but im not sure, ive never been too fond of alcohol, so no alcoholisms in my past.

i have however smoked probably several kilos of the whacky tobaccy and i know for a fact it will screw your head up if you smoke too much/too long

tell you what, like everything else, if you overdo it, it will overdo you. ;)

Obviosuly, booze is the worst in the long term, but heavy weed-use can twist people's
minds over a extended time and also distort their sense of reality and self-worth.

I think all personality-changing drugs are bad news...But people have the insane
and misconcepted idea that weed is OK, due to it being marketed as 'cool', etc.

.

I think it depends on the person, most people can use both without doing any serious damage however different people react differently. So really it depends on the person in question.

Alcohol, for sure. It impairs judgement much mroe, and elads to more agression.

Well..the alchochol is not so dangerous if you don't 'abuse' with it. I mean that there is nothing bad to drink a bottle of beer in Friday night for example.
But the alchocolism is really serious problem.

You know how bad booze is when you have lived with an alchoholic.

.

I say Alcohol, because when have you ever read about 'weed fueled yobs rioting'.

Basically, asides from the health aspects, Alcohol is by far the most damaging because of the violence it causes some people to turn to:(

In my experiance, drunk people are far worse than stoned people. Generally, stoned people just want to relax, watch TV and eat food. But drunk people tend to act like idiots.

And also I have a hangover at current;)

For once, we agree on something.

Try the Manson family and just about every criminal from a deprived area.

Most druggie thugs use weed in some way.

I'd say that generally alcohol cause much more harm, but maybe that's because it is much more widely consumed than marijuana.

I think that in large doses alcohol is by far more dangerous, while in small doses marijuana probably has the more long-lasting harmful effects.

I think alcohol is more dangerous to individuals and those around them, and it has on occasion destroyed whole societies (native groups with no genetic tolerance introduced to it suddenly). On marijuana's side of the equation is really only its current (US) illegality, which makes its purchase contribute to other things that are bad for society, like gang violence. It's hard to say where the balance lies.

Our societies have a lot more experience with alcohol than with marijuana. Maybe this is the reason why more negative side effects are known for alcohol than for marijuana. Or maybe marijuana really is less harmful.
I can't tell, but i do know that i prefer alcohol by a longshot. :)
