This is a map of what Germany looked like immeadiately following its reunification in 1871. The 16 largest provinces/regions have been divided by mountains and the land has been altered to fit civilization more (Playing a game on Germany with almost all forests, grasslands, and mountains could get boring quick).

It is reccomended to use 16 civilizations.

The map is 130 X 130.

This is my first map so e-mail me at Nigel717@AOL.com if you have any questions.

Very good Head Serf, you did a good job :goodjob:

Oooo, cool. Did you know there's a modern Bundesland map out there too? Maybe you could make a map of the divisions after WWII, where the West was divided up between France, UK, America and Canada, and then East Germany on the other side (all woudl play against eachother of course?. That would make all three stages of Germany. Just and idea.

A slight correction. It wasn't re-unified 1971. It was unified for the first time ever in history in 1871.

Ummmm.... I'm pretty sure I say 1871 every single time...

By the way, are there any other recomendations on how to make a better map? Do you guys want another country, or a smaller/bigger version, or Germany at a different point in history?

Well, if you count the Holy Roman Empire(which most of modern Germany belonged to), which lasted until Napoleon broke it up, then Germany was re-unified in 1871. That's why it's called the Second Reich, with the HRE being the First Reich.

It was fragmented and a shadow of its former glory yes, but I believe that techincally that region was still refered to as the HRE. Not completely sure though. Where's a history buff when you need one?

Edit: I forgot this forum moves really slowly. I didn't realize I bumped a month old topic... >.<# Back on topic, the map is great though.

When Napoleon conquered Germany, there were something like 300 or so independent kingdoms, princedoms, duchies, counties, marches, etc., etc. Napoleon consolidated them into 30 or so states. After the war, the German states just kept the same order, with Prussia being dominant in the north and Bavaria in the south. I could explain the entire 19th century political history of Germany, if need be, but we'd be here awhile. Thank you, AP Euro History!:king:

Bismark united Germany :p
