Or I should keep one for my people?
I am just wondering the amout of resouce showed. does it count all my resouce or it only shows the the (whole amout)-1?

Some resources play extremely vital parts, such as iron and oil. But you can always trade stuff like fish, clam, and cow because a lot of the resources do the same thing so you can trade those if you like.

Always check the civilopedia to help better make your decisions on resources. There are some really good ones such as gold as they help your commence immensely, but clams and fish are pretty much the same thing.

But one clam and one fish are better than two fish :)

Ideally you'll only trade resources that you have more than one of unless you simply don't need the other. It all depends on what you want in return, if you're looking to appease an agressive neighbor when you can't afford a fight then yes, it can be helpful to trade away your only clams. If you have a "friend" in need of a strategic resource like Iron or Oil you can typically get two or more resources and some gold per turn in exchange. I've given away my only source of iron when I needed food & luxury items to keep my empire growing but it can be a risky gamble.

It shows all the resources you have, so if it says you have 1 of something, and you trade it away, you wont have it anymore.

Yes. As an option, trade resources or gift civs with extra resources to gain better or maintain good relationsips. I typically make sure every single extra resource I have is used up in either trade agreements or gifting. There's no point at all having extra resources if they just sit there (other than for working them if they are within your workable area). In the harder levels, you need to use every single tool you have at your disposal.

A small note: trade uranium. I've never seen an AI build the Manhatten Project, and giving them Uranium makes them really happy!

The game should weigh the strategic value of any given resource at the time, rather than a fixed value...but anyways :)

As far as what's on the map, say the Germans have one gold total and they trade it. I don't think you get any less amount of gold or hammers for it. It's just that you would lose the luxury bonus of making one person happy. The reason I say that, is because you mentioned it helping your commerce immensely but as far as I know you're "commerce" isn't hurt in the slightest, just your happiness, and that only if you're trading for something that isn't also a luxury you otherwise wouldn't have had (IOW, trading a luxury you have only one of, for a luxury you didn't have, will keep things exactly the same). That includes both on the board gold/hammers and happiness.
