ANY QUESTIONS PM THEM TO ME, AND I WILL ANSWER THEM ON THE FAQs AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RULES.
ECONOMY:
Economy is based on Production points. Such are shown in the stats as:
"Economy: 75/75 PPs"
The first number means how much you are producing, while the second means overall capabilities. for most of the game your nation will work at maximum efficiency. However sometimes this will not be the case and this may appear:
GREAT BRITAIN
"Economy: 50/75 PPs"
That means that somehow your economy is not producing as much as it could. For example your army could be under mobilisation (read about mobilization), territory might be occupied by other powers, rebellions etc etc. After you fix such problems, your economy should go back to normal.
Sometimes however, this might show :
"Economy: 100/75 PPs"
This means that your economy is producing much more than expected that season, this is a rare event however, and the economy is likely to return to normal soon.
Now that you understand what the stat means, lets look at how it is grown:
Economy is grown through the development and implementation of new Technology:
In the stats, under economy we see this :
Economy: 75/75 PPs
(Tech): Experimental Railroad (0/15)
The name of the current tech. The first number represent how many PPs we have spent on it, and how many are needed to complete it. Once your put all the PPs needed, your economy will grow depending on the tech. and a new tech will appear. You must follow the tech tree, you cant skip or choose techs.
NOTE: you dont need to pay for the research all in one turn, you can spend PPs in a few turns to complete it. HOWEVER, even if you can afford it, you CANT research more than one economic tech per turn.
Once you finish a tech, your total PPs on the stat will increase.
SPENDING PPs:
You must spend all of your PPs in the same turn, cant be banked.
NATIONAL DEFENSE:
This is seldom seen in other neses, but in real life, no nation had a HUGE army walking around fully trained, equiped, feed and ready for a war at the leaders will, not even prussia!. The armies of most powers of the time were composed of a small core of profesional officers and its strenght based on largely on conscription or reserves. During war the nation would call its soldiers to war in what is known as mobilization.
MOBILIZATION:
This will be a key point, you can see how many divisions you have on your stats, but it doesnt mean that you can use them right away. Each turn represents a season, in war you must go through 'mobilization' to get to use them.
To mobilize just write in your orders 'mobilize army'. That means that you can either be ready to stop someone invading you that same turn, or invade someone on the next. (this is done so the invaded nation has some time to get its armies ready to defend its territory, and the invading nation cant take a nation by complete surprise from which true catastrophe is to happen.)
MORE ABOUT MOBILIZATION:
Every turn your army is under mobilization (wether at war or not), your economy will turn to feed it, dress it and supply it. meaning that your economy is no longer working to meet its own demands but the demands of the army (plus many workers left home to fight). In other words, YOUR ECONOMY GOES DOWN A THIRD. for example a nation under mobilization would have this on their stats:
Economy: 50/75 PPs
To de-mobilize, just write it on your orders, altough it wont be done if you are still at war.
NOTE: the only way that you know that your neighbor has mobilized and will be ready to attack the next turn is through the economic stats. no other warning will be given on the updates!.
Also, official declarations of war prior to mobilization is expected, the nature of war in the 1800s is very different. it also prevents entire continents from mobilizing because one decided to keep its intentions secret.
INCREASING ARMY:
3 PPs = 1 Army Divions
4 PPs = 1 Fleet Squadron
DEFENSE RESEARCH:
Just like economy, you can (and should) increase the quality of your forces through Research, for each era you must spend so many PPs to move from Early to Late technology.
PRESTIGE:
Prestige is what the world in general think of your nation, it is a combination of good natured diplomatic actions and culture.
Prestige points can be gained either through events or cultural research. Cant be traded or given away.
Prestige can be lost in events or by breaking the following treaties (altough not limited to) :
Breaking Following treaties:
Joining a war from which there is no link to either side (-65 Prestige)
(in other words, if Russia goes to war with China, and the US has no treaty of allience or defense with either, then it shouldnt join the war for territorial gain)
Peace Treaty : -50 Prestige points
Non Agression Pact : -75 Prestige
Allience: -25 Prestige
Defense Pact : -40 Prestige
Guarantee of Independence : -75 Prestige
Right of Passage : -150 Prestige
Good prestige can translate into positive events, while bad prestige can end in bad bad events.
TOTAL POWER:
The status of a power can be seen by adding the number of PPs, army divisions, fleets, and culture points. (altough this can be somewhat misleading as some armies/fleets are more modern than others)
Frequently Asked Questions::
Can i give techs away?
NO, If you want to help another power develop, then sent them some of the PPs from that turn.
How long is a turn?
Each turn represents a season, so 4 per year.
How many alliences can i be part of?
you can sign as many defense pacts, NAPs, ROP as you want. However you can only be Part of one Allience, and Alliences should be above any other deals you had w/ other powers. So you must be careful who you make deals with, if your allience goes to war w/ a nation, and you had a NAP, then the NAP will be broken by default because Alliences over ride it (even if you lose prestige!).
If you leave an allience before the war starts (losing some, but not so much prestige), then youll be fine.
How many divisions do i have ready w/out mobilization?
You will have enough when dealing w/ rebels or domestic problems. You can send 'expeditionary' forces accounting for no more than 10% of your army if you want w/out damage to your economy. (taking advantage of this, or finding unfair loop holes will mean bad things
)
What does mobilization mean to my fleet?
Your Fleet is working at all times, mobilized or not, but will for the most part remain in port at peacetime.
Stories??.....
Go ahead, events are there and can give you somewhat of an edge, but not necessary.
Sending Orders??
When sending me orders send me a copy of your stats at the top. then describe what you are doing and at the bottom how your new stats should look. This will save me time and result or faster updating.
If you are das, then try to give me a summary of 'must do' stuff somewhere in the 3 PMs. Also, if you are Das or anyone else, send me a map. This will help me, otherwise your army leaders will be confused and you dont want that.
How do i win?!
mmmh.... through careful managent of your economy you must find a balance, then pray.
WHY IS CHINA AND OTTOMANS SO WEAK!!!
mmmh..... well alex, this is going to be some challange for you, but things are even better than they were for real life china.
