AlphaWolf's Platform
My fellow nomadic citizens if you elect me your first President I will ensure that we settle and build our first city on prime real estate. I will be a careful steward of our fine, as of yet unnamed nation. I will focus our economy on science first, but without bankrupting us. I will resolve any disputes between officials in a calm and just manner.

Vote Honor,

Vote Wolf,

Platform for Man'O'Action
Friends and countrymen lend me your ears, our first term is crititcal to the future of our nation and I am proud to be running for President. These opening years will decide the direction for the rest of our civilization. We don't need bureaucrats we need pioneers.

In contrast to my opponent, my objectives will be to be needed and to be used as much as possible in the time that is alloted to me. Although the office of President is not meant to be an iron-fisted tyrant, it is vital that he be a coordinating and motivating figure that sews together the individual offices to a cohesive governing body.

Sucess will be determined by our preparedness for the future. The rising tide of growth will raise all of our objectives be they scientific, religious, defense, or otherwise. Food and infrastructure are our greatest resources and with our well planned growth we can outgrow economic and scientific stagnation. I will discourage the ambitions and dreams of the citizens but rather encourage them in the direction and form they should take.

Failure can be defined as the death of our settlers on their way to build new cities, the destruction of our worker crews bringing vital resources to our homes, or a war with our neighbors.

Most importantly, failure is defined as achieving less than we are capable of as a civilation.

I am the Man of Action and I'm asking you today to vote for growth and vote for Man'O'Action.

Question for candidates:

What are your objectives for the first term? What would be considered a success? Are there any first term outcomes that you would consider to be failures?

Sorry for just now getting to this question, I didn't miss it; I just haven’t had time.

My objectives for the first Term are to be needed as little as possible. I do not mean I wish to be lazy, quite the opposite in fact, you see the Presidency is a reactive not a proactive position. The President is the fixer of problems: he gets us out of debt should we go into it; the President along with the rest of the Triumvirate is entrusted with great emergency powers that I hope will not have to be used as it is entirely possible to conduct a war, if necessary, without activating mobilization; and one duty of this office I hope will not come into play, the resolving of leader disputes. To head off these problems before they can become problems I will attempt to make the wisest decisions that I can. I will do my best to ensure that the budget stays in the black. I will curtail the best I can the urge for irresponsible and frankly dangerous overgrowth that can lead to ruin, with the barbarians and animals in Civ4 settlers should never go alone into the wilderness unprotected and building too many cities early on leads to stagnation and being overrun by your neighbors.

A successful term for me would be, depending on final map size and turns played, between two and five well developed cities, no war and no mobilizations, a army large enough to act a deterrent but not too large as to drain us, and a large treasury. Should we begin on or near the coast, I would like to see two naval units exploring in opposite directions by the end of this term.

Failure would be a War fought on our soil, or having to Declare a State of Mobilization; for a good President who has the duty of being the moderator of officials should with a silver tongue be able to convince Governors and Cabinet members to work for the good of nation without resorting to the heel of a jackboot.

I am AlphaWolf and I would be honored to be your first President.

The Wolf has been very active in these forums. I am constantly amazed how much time and effort he puts toward the CIV Demogame.

I also like the well-spoken, well-intentioned Man 'O' Action. I just haven't seen the matching effort from him during the past month.

Therefore, my vote goes to Alphawolf.

^well said. i think this is a suitable reward for Awolf since he shaped this game

do you think that you will overthrow democracy and establish the IIP as the ruling party during your term (yes, it is a slow news day)

Umm, I got one (I hope this is the right thread). As you say in your platform you wouldn't settle our first city 'till you found some prime real estate. Say this were to happen how long would you theoretically (sp?) move the settler about trying to find "prime real estate" before settling (if none could be found)?

That was campaign rhetoric; the citizens assembly decides where to settle I can not change their vote.

@RoboPig, I will not dignify that with an answer.

 just like a real politician, duck and dodge every question.

i smell IIP conspiracy. ;)

Oh sorry. I am new to the "democracy" game thing (never would of joined if it weren't for someone telling me to join) so I really have no clue what to do except so far the polls.

Thank you. Did you happen to notice which parties my opponent and I belong to? :D

@Condor: don't worry about it, you only learn through questions; ask as many as you want! :)

Actually I like roboPis question.

Will you be more partial to follow the ideas of the IIP, and make changes to fit their goals? Though that question is pointless since both people running are members and since you wrote the constitution you can guarantee Ideological similarities.

I will be partial to the IIP ideals since they are mine; I did write them. However that is neither hide nor hair the first term since it is far too early to for most of the IIP's tenets to come into play in the first term and with successful use of science and the economy war will never be necessary.

@Koondrad: :evil: :devil:
