New Unit: Barbary Corsair Galley

To kick off a new year of ship making, I give you the Barbary Corsair Galley, requested by Goldflash. It comes with both arrow and cannon attacks to choose from.

Cool, I need it for my mod.

Could you make a more modern unit? Like a frigate era muslim ship?

As I recall this is the ship the Barbary coast corsairs used during the frigate era. I know the USA sent frigates (sail) and marines to combat these pirates.

Yeah, when the US Marines stormed the city of Tripoli (which was the Barbary Pirates' main base), it was the first time in history that the US flag was flown over the old world... It's also where the "to the shores of Tripoli" verse comes from in the US Marine Corps anthem....

This unit makes a good target for Aaglo's Constitution class frigates

Great unit looks great

The tune of the US Marine Corps anthem is the same as the club song of the Adelaide Crows (the best team in the Australian Football League)

That was in America's early history wasn't it?

We have a long tradition of intervening in those countries whenever they send out their pirates or terirists.

Thanks yet again everyone.

Yeah, it's the Orthanc Standard Sail texture, easiest way to tell a boat is made by me. Sails rule, smokestacks are ugly

According to wikipedia, the Barbary Pirates were pretty much wiped out by the Royal (99% sure that means British) Navy in 1816. America got involved with the Pirates originally to try and hire a navy, that didn't work so well, so they just made their own navy, and when the pirates started bugging them they just met them with ships like the USS Constitution. That's how I summarized the wikipedia article at least.

Wikipedia roxzorz.
