The absolute worst random start ever!

Is this the absolute worst random start ever?

If someone think he can beat me I want to see proof!

Just to see HOW bad this start was I decided to play it for a bit, just to reveal more of the map.

Here is the situation 1125BC

North

I explored the north first, maybe I could have done better if I went to the south first.

South:

And here is the safe, monarch, vanilla mac 1.21g (still waiting for mac C3C to arrive in europe.)

i like a warm wet 5 billion year old earth. but i prefer my start to be on grasslands and usually is, then i wind up being surrounded by jungle...negating the decent start i sometimes get. lol i'm a glutton.

dunno you do have the ability for it to become an alright city, whereas if you started in the middle of desert then you'd be screwed.

Ick. Yeah, that sucks. My worst ever start was on a tundra, but with some grassland to the south. I didn't even bother to play that one.

I'm a glutton too, and I find I have the best chance of rivers and nice grassland without much jungle using temperate wet 5 billion.

Go here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=98544&highlight=bad+start and check out the Byzantine start that DocT has on page 3. I think it has yours covered. Jungle is a pain but it can be cut down.

Do you have the 4000BC save for that? All I found was the 3000 one.

A bad start indeed (though i once start in the tundra, surrounded by mountains. That was a cool, wet, 3billion yo earth). And you are playing Zulus.

I had a bad start with a military/religious civ, continent random map, the land itself was good but the island was like maybe 30 squares big and the civ didn't even start with alphabet.

The land immediately around where my first settler starts out has never been bad, of course I use medium map settings, which must nearly guarantee it.

Whew, that beats the time where I was on a pennisula, blocked by China by turn 1. And it was in desert 2.
