Would an HoF attempt by SG be allowed?

I don’t know if this would even be interesting enough to try, but would it be acceptable to submit an HoF attempt via an SG that followed HoF rules? I was considering seeing if there was enough interest to attempt it.

If the interest was there, and it was allowed by the HoF Staff, we would follow all HoF rules.

This is probably a crazy idea, but I figure it’s worth mentioning. I'm not even sure I could draw interested players and/or be able to attain a game good enough to even submit.

An interesting idea, but we wouldn't be able to put it on the existing tables:

Hmm, why not make an exception for SGs? The vast majority of SGs played are of the "single player" game type, the only difference is that multiple people are controlling the single non-AI civ. Having multiple people play a SG in order to get the best possible game doesn't seem contrary spirit of the HoF.

In fact the game would be labeled as an HoF attempt so all team members would, hopefully, be in the HoF spirit.

The game definitely sounds interesting, hence why I asked, but I honestly wonder if an SG would be a benefit or hinder the game? I've never attempted a HoF game but it appears that one must be extremely focused on everything. Keeping all team members that focused may be tough.

The single player bit in the rules doesn't just mean played in single player mode. It really does mean played by only a single player. It's the same reasons why single player GOTM submissions are kept different from SGOTM submissions.

SG's would break new records in the reload count anyway. They'd all be rejected.

Maybe, maybe not. Though it would be interesting as the HoF Staff, and every HoF player, could watch as it progressed. It would be very easy for the mods to note any errors.

Thanks for the reply Superslug. I understand the rules and why it isn't possible. It still sounds interesting though.

You could always start an SG with a HoF table entry as 'variant rule' to see wether it is helpful or detrimental to a game. If you take the gauntlet targetted table you'd play a 'shadow' game and like you said it would be a showcase game and no doubt fire discussions. I for one might be interested in such a game since I don't have time to play a full game on my own anymore.

Having succession games on the primary HOF tables is, as stated, not possible, but there *could* be other possibilities. If enough interest is presented, I could explore those possibilities.
