Well, it's behind schedule, but I finished the Gelnika Airship, finally. This is the second of the only two actual air units in the FF mod. Basically, it's a heavy air transport capable of transporting 4 units over a rather long range, requires oil to build, and it's an upgrade from the basic Cargo Airship (which is cheaper and requires no resources, but can only transport two units over less of a distance).

Here's the files

Here's a preview (default/run, fidget, run/default, "build" (a.k.a drop troops off) and death):

Very cool. Kind of a super retro, alt-history kind of feel. A land battleship of the skies, maybe (even though it's only a transport). FF is one heck of a mixed up universe, judging by the kinds of units I've been seeing! :D

Yeah, Final Fantasy VII was an eclectic combination of wierd almost like WWII type tech that was taken to the next generation (like the Gelnika, Highwind (which had some artword on the upper hull that resembled the "noseart" typically found on B-17 bombers), and GrossPanzer), High fantasy (sword and magic wielding super-soldiers with super-modern ceramic armor), and ultra high tech (robots armed with lasers, the Makou Cannon, holograms at the Gold Saucer, and the Shinra #26 Rocket). I actually enjoyed the kind of retro-sci-fiey feel of the game.

I'm also tempted to make a militarized version (along the lines of the AC-130 Gunships we have, which are nothing more than a C-130 transport that had the passenger/cargo space converted into ammo storage and weapons platforms) for Shinra's third UU, but I'd still rather do the Shinra Submarine.

I'm glad you all like it, though :)

This is one sweet ginourmous plane, great job on the modelling here, keep it up!
