I would like to try to make a translation of cIV in Dutch for the Dutch players and myself. But how do I do this, I want to translate as much as possible, civs, units, diplomacy, etc. and if I like doing it even the Civilopedia. But I realy haven't got any idea how, so please help me!!:(

P.s if there is any other software needed for this I would be realy greatfull if you could also tell me where to find it.

The translations are held in the Assets\XML\Text directory.

That should at least give you somewhere to start.

First I made a copy of translation files (in Assets\XML\Text), and then, with a simple php-program, copied <Finnish>-tags from <English>-texts. Then I simply started to translate all which was inside <Finnish> and </Finnish> tags. I did it with a plain text editor. Of course I did not even touch such a codes like [CT_EMPIRE] and [OUR_BEST_UNIT].

I have now added <dutch>-tags for original textfiles so if you want them, I can send (if you only tell me your e-mail address..). I found it easier to translate when there was not other than English and Finnish. I can do also this for you, if you want (it will last some 30 seconds so don't mind to ask :-) - or if you want France or German, there you go).

Oh, you also have to edit Assets/Python/Screens/CvOptionsScreen.py
and add there (after aszDropdownElements = () ) one line:
aszDropdownElements = aszDropdownElements + (localText.getText("TXT_KEY_DUTCH", ()),)

And if you want there is only English and Dutch, remove other lines.

If you could do that it would be great kahkonen. So you send me a versie of the xml files which I just have to paste in a mod and translate the dutch lines? You can send it to this address anjvos@hotmail.com Could you then also remove all the other except english and dutch, already thanks

If I want to translate them to Chinese or Japanese, do you have any idea?
I found there is section for Chinese, but that xml file is in <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> format, Chinese can't be input in this file, what can I do?
May I change it to <?xml version="1.0" encoding="GB2312"?> or <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>?

I think so (and you also have to save the files in UTF mode), but why there are sections for these languages? Is Civilization already sold in Chinese in Asia?
