So, why stop the tech after Genetics & Robotics?

When 'did' Call to power 2, I liked playing in the genetic and diamond era (the far future), with advanced units like the fusion tank, ecoterrorists, Leviathans, and... underwater cities (and lots more...). (maybe i just like an extra long gameplay...)

Maybe Civ4 is developing an expansion for this, or someone here is allready programming for the creation & customization forum.

This would be a wonderful expansion for conquest or diplomacy or cultural victory, and would prevent the game of getting boring because no extra techs and units can be developed...

Anyone who shares my idea?

Well, i agree with sid & firaxis, and i think for most of the people the modern times will be enough. But just not for me...

And the developers did a pretty good step at that direction in Call to power 2.

I do think their could be some more new naval and air units. The naval units are kinda basic. Transport,Sub.,BattleShip,Destroyer their could be more futuristic units like a Giant Battleship that could do everything the other units just not as well. Like transport only 2 ground units instead of 4.:goodjob:

Yeah, I'd rather just have them work on making the late game more accurate than on extending into the fanciful territory of Call to Power, or even SMAC.

The late-game tech tree really doesn't work well. I say extend it laterally and spruce up the late game in the expansions.

Yeah once you get to the future era it really dosen't matter what you choose anymore.

I never liked how there is just "Future Tech" in the end. At least Future Tech is good for something now, but I would like to see more tech, even if it is futuristic. There is nothing wrong with "guessing" what the future will be. Call to Power and Empire Earth have futuristic ends, why not Civ IV?

I agree with Heero Blaze

maybe just an expansion pack, so civplayers could choose wheter to play with it or not...

Heh, it'd be fun if each future tech's effect on the world were completely random from game to game :D.

At least give the future techs more effects. +1 happiness and health is good but other effects could be for example:

Mines +1 shield
Farm: +1 food
Fish: +1
Submarine: +1 movement
Armor: +2 strength

and so on...

Extra health and happiness means more specialists in every city. How you use these specialists (and the GP they will spawn eventually) is up to you.

It'd be nice to have some building for cities that helps counteract global warming. Or, for workers to be able to terraform the land. This could be something granted with one of the levels of Future Tech. Perhaps FT 5 for the building and FT 10 for the terraforming.

For terraforming desert becomes plains, plains becomes grassland or floodplains depending on location. This is primarily to restore terrain to its original state after global warming turning the square into desert.
