Hi everyone,

After a year of not playing civ 3, i installed it today, purely to see how it runs on my new computers.

But, from starting the game, i have an odd font problem. I have smooth fonts like it says it needs.

Any ideas?
I am using a 19" TFT screen, could this be distorting it?
Also its running at 1024x768, which looks very blurry in the first place. Tried to see if civ will run higher, but it doesn't seem to want to...

Or could this just be that i am more used to clear games like half-life 2 and EVE?

Any help would be great thanks :D

I had something of a bluriness problem too once. I didn't know the cause but a reinstall made it go away.

I think that the problem may be that you have "cleartype" on.

Try the following:
How to turn Cleartype off
Cleartype can be turned off by going to Control Panel then Display then click the Appearance tab then choose Effects. Then change “Use the Following method to smooth edges of screen fonts” to Standard. This will provide non-Cleartype anti-aliasing. To remove anti-aliasing all together uncheck the check box above it, but Remember that normal anti-aliasing looks the same no matter what monitor it’s displayed on, so you don’t need to turn it off to get a good screenshot.

No, that's not ClearType ainwood, I don't think. Pink text on the F1 Domestic Screen would be ClearType, though. The problem is probably the fact the game is most likely using the wrong font file.
