After looking at the list of civs not played, I only find Louis XIV having useful traits. Our civ is France.

4000 BC
Paris is formed. Since we have *no* seafood, I have to go with a worker first. Since we already know how to farm, I am going to make a run at Hinduism. We want Mysticism anyway, to run at Stonehenge.

3720 BC
(IT) Next up in research is Hinduism.

3560 BC
(IT) The worker completes, and Paris can finally begin to grow.
We now start work on Stonehenge. An OCC is very much about wonders and GPPs.

3240 BC
(IT) We are now Hindus. Next up is mining to get the gold hill up to speed.

2920 BC
(IT) I start research on fishing next, as we need to make contact with the rest of the world.

2680 BC
(IT) The next tech is masonry. The Pyramids would be really nice. Getting 3 quick happy faces from representation would be really nice.

2640 BC
(IT) We complete our first wonder of Stonehenge.
Next up is a workboat to try and make contact with the world.

2520 BC
(IT) I hit one of those times where no tech feels like it has a clear advantage.
I finally go with priesthood for the option of the Oracle, and to open up writing. The Great Library is a killer wonder for us.

2480 BC
(IT) We have already hit the health limit.

2280 BC
(IT) We can't afford to chop any trees due to health reasons, but I still go for bronze working. It would be nice to know if we have copper. In addition, we need to eventually clear the jungle to get gems on-line, and this heads that way. If one of the two visible hills has copper, that will really help with production.

1960 BC
(IT) Slavery is a total waste for us, so I pass on a revolution for it.
Organized religion for a 25% shield boast would be nice, so I start on monotheism.

==========================

Summary:
We can afford to grow to size 7. At the point we can configure our tiles for no growth.

The Pyramids are due in 7 turns. 3 happy faces, and the research bonus is huge if we get the Great Library.

We should get an exploring workboat or two after the Pyramids.

I agree the super specialists are key to an OCC. I see the following people needed:
1 prophet for our shrine - even if we found more religions, we aren't interested in more shrines.
All engineers are for wonders.
1 scientist is for a critical academy.
IMHO all others should be merged. We need every possible dollar, shield and research point possible in the capitol.
IMHO we really want bureaucracy.

At some point we need more then a single warrior for defense.

Remember 20 turns per round. STRICT 24 hours got it, total 48 hours to complete.
With this being an OCC, 10 turns seems like just to little.

I disagree with this. I’ve found even the engineers are better merged. Once we switch to Representation a merged great engineer is worth +3 hammers and +6 beakers. Both are adjusted by all infrastructure bonuses. In the long run a merged engineer is more valuable than rushing a wonder.

Another important wonder we want is Globe Theatre, as it removes all unhappy faces.

Got it, and we’ll play tomorrow.

I think it will depend on the wonder. With our bad health situation, as an example, rushing Hanging Gardens would really help.

I agree Globe Theater is really important as it solves the happy face issue permanently.

I agree that it depends on wonder - we should for example keep one eng for GL (just in case), one for Statue(damn expensive) and one for UN (to speed up).
We should not rush HG though! It's too cheap, having 3 mines we should have no problems buidling it.
Building Pyr we've practically lost our chances for Oracle. If we manage to build it though, I would beeline for Metal Casting to build forge and Colossus - we have 10 water tiles to use if I count it right - so this wonder is a must for us.

One more thing to discuss: what to do with the first Prophet.
1) Build a shrine (not now, noone runs our religion)
2) Merge (we start then running +5g at 100% Sci)
3) Research Theo (good trading tech)

I think we should make 2 if we won't meet anyone or 3 when we know some civs. With having Pyrs it should be my turn I think.

Checking in.

Great Prophet.
I am quite pessimistic in getting a GP when I need one later since adventure2, so even if there is no big advantage of an early shrine, I would build it before we have GPP of too many kinds.

Jabah

PS : I count 10 coast and 1 sea squares, so colossus should be a priority as well.

I mean sth other. When we build shrine we get +1gpt. We need to spread the religion to 4 more cities to get +5gpt. So we need a monastery (or Org Rel), 4 missionaries, a galley or two. And it costs us time. and resources.
Our profile for now is 100% GP, after Pyrs are ready we get GP with about 70% ppb. Then we start from 50% GP 50% GE and if we build oracle it'll change to 66% GP 33% GE. Early worders generate mostly GP points, so we should have no problems getting second prophet - sooner or later. and +5gpt from the begining is not to underestimate

One thing to remember about the shrine is it spreads our religion *without* missionaries. I have seen a religion spread like wild fire this way - check out LOTR22 with an early shrine. The percentage of world that is Hindu is absurd!

I think the team is still debating early shrine. I felt it did wonders in LK116 and LOTR22. My vote is shrine.

I have no interest in grabbing theology with prophet. IMHO OCC is about building a long-term super city. This requires a ton of free specialist.
I think the vote is between an early merge or a shrine. I think my opinion should be clear. Long-term a shrine will be worth far more then the specialist.

On this kind of map, a shrine would be useful (if you get some scouting boats out), as trade routes won't require astronomy or long roads to establish, allowing religion to spread quickly, just make sure to get writing sometime soon.

If we have a religion than yes, build a shrine. If not merge him unless we think we'll get a religion fairly soon. By the end of my SP OCC games I have several of each great person merged into the city. So don't feel we have to stock pile our first prophet so we can build a shrine. We will get another one, or more correctly several more.

Turn 60 (1600 BC)
Methos: Everything looks good.
Tech learned: Monotheism
Judaism founded in Paris
Judaism has spread: Paris

Turn 61 (1560 BC)
Research begun: Pottery
Methos: I decide to go for pottery so we can cottage the grassland around us. I also feel we should cottage the bananas up until Calendar. Might as well make some commerce off that tile.
Paris grows: 7

Turn 65 (1400 BC)
Tech learned: Pottery

Turn 66 (1360 BC)
Research begun: Writing
Methos: After pottery I start on Writing for the library.
Methos: The worker begins work on a cottage on the bananas.
Paris finishes: The Pyramids

Turn 67 (1320 BC)
Paris begins: Work Boat
Methos: It'll only take 7 turns to finish the Oracle so we might want to consider it.
Methos: I revolt and switch to Representation and Organized Religion.

Turn 68 (1280 BC)
Contact made: Russian Empire

Turn 69 (1240 BC)
Methos: We meet Cathy, who is just to our north.
Methos: The worker finishes the cottage.
Paris finishes: Work Boat

Turn 70 (1200 BC)
Paris begins: The Oracle
Research begun: Metal Casting
Research begun: Monarchy
Research begun: Writing

Production is currently set on the Oracle, but no hammers have been invested. It’ll take six turns to complete and Writing will be done in four. If we complete the Oracle our options would be Alphabet (448), Mathematics (373), Code of Laws (552), Metal Casting (672), and Iron Working (299). Those are the more expensive ones.

It appears that Cathy already has Sailing, as her border can be seen in both the northwest and northeast. The city of Novgorod is in view.

I have attached an image of Paris.

Glad to see we got a second wonder. :)

If we get the Oracle we should take the most expensive of metal casting. That opens up another wonder for us.
Now that we have meet Cathy, we had better take the time to get some more military.

Since we now have more happy faces, then health, a quick granary looks good. It would be nice to stat making some money from the water around us.

Ok, checking in.

I agree on the shrine, we should build one. Not sure now which to do now that we have 2 religions... Hindu shrine?

Does Cathy have any religion? If she doesn't and we can get Hinduism spread to her it should help relations...

All our commerce will come from the sea, so the Colossus is a must have with a lighthouse as well.

Also, if we keep all the forrest (and we should right now because of health), we will have 0 cottage and very low commerce. We have to consider later the options to
(1) cut and cottage the forrest
(2) cottage grass hills (if any)
(3) windmill the hills

Or else we gonna have a high production, no research OCC.
