This is the election for the biggest 1/3 of executive power, and the two dudes who are running for it are:

Strider
Chillaxtion

So vote Licentia, vote like your life depended on it!!

I will state my goals for this term here, in new words! It'll be just like a patch to a game!

Okay, so our partcipation might be even worst than I thought when I first posted my 'platform.' How many uncontested poistions did we have? Well, I don't have the exact number right now, but it was quite a few. So here's the deal, I want to focus even more on getting our partcipation up. Actually, that will be one of the priorities of my presidency (if elected).

Whomp got me thinking with the Cartographer thing, and I've decided the best way to keep people in the game, is to give them something to do. So, I want to start appointing jobless people with various jobs. Cartographer being one, FAQ & Help threads, the Information Department, open up the Citizen Honors again, etc.

I also promise to coordinate efforts between Elected Officials, make one coherent strategy instead of several differant ones running alongside eachother.

I would also like to make some constitutional changes sometime soon (I wouldn't be me if I wasn't always trying to change things). Almost all of them are little loopholes, nothing that will change the way anything operates. As for the constitution, I want to put together a kind of "Summary" of each article. Basically, something that tells you in plain english (or Spanish and Italian, I could do those also :)) what the hell it does.

I would also like to make some organization changes, at the moment just cleaning up the main forum of stickies. I encourage everyone to join in this thread and tell me what you think of my proposal.

Earlier I gave this city plan as an example of what I would like to see for our settlement. Now, this proposal as it is I don't even like it, as I would like to move atleast two of the cities by one tile, but it will give you a general idea of my thinking. Remember though, that this is not set in stone.

I'd like to start up the RPG again, I'm mainly concentrating my efforts on the organized RPG. My plans with it is to turn it into a Story-driven Economic RPG. However, I would also like to see an extremely DG-centered unorganized RPG start up again also. Parades, Civil Wars, etc. type things. I guess the best way to do this would be just to start doing it myself.

So, with that in mind... I am formally announcing the "Post-Election" Party! Invitations will be sent out shortly (don't sit around waiting for them... you won't get one :P), and it shall take place right inside of our own Citizens Forum! We will serve Fried Copper (a new delicacy from our newest city!) along with plenty of pork!

This may come as a surprise to anyone that frequented the Civ3 DG, but I am throwing my support behind Strider. He's been active in the DG experience from the start, yet has never had the opportunity to be President. In fact, I would have to check to see if he has even run for the Presidency before.

Needless to say, this is an opportunity that does not present itself every day --- the chance to vote for President Strider. Besides, I would like to see in place some of the remedies he has prescribed for our nation.

I voted for Strider. Chil looks like a good candidate, but Strider's plans for the presidency really impressed me.

Strider has definitely run for President before. I used to make it a point to always accept a nomination against him if I could, but this time I feel like I can support his candidacy. :)

Is it just me or did Strider burst out of that door :D

I know it looks pretty grim at this point, but I'll stay the course by summarizing my platform thus far:

1.) Discussion of city specialization, with an eye towards victory conditions.
2.) Promotion of independent reporting, and increased governmental transparency.
3.) A commission/round table discussion on the ease of entry of new players.
4.) Organization of a volunteer group specifically devoted to promoting the DG on the rest of CFC to the extent possible.
5.) Establishing community netiquette/standards, with an eye to making the game more accessible and less WYSIWYG.

Please read all the relevant thread before making your choice, and please vote.

Don't give up, there is still more time Chill. Vote Chill, he'll get over the hill!!:D

Chill, you said you wanted to specialize cities with an eye towards victory conditions. Which victory conditions were you looking for? Military, Culture, Diplomatic, all at the same time?

I'm having trouble deciding if you really mean this as a question, and don't understand what I intended, or if you're just asking this to snark and prove that everyone already thinks that strategies for terrain improvement and achieving victory conditions are inseparable.

For the sake of argument, I'll assume the former. Maybe I should have worded this, "Discussion, with an eye towards victory conditions, of the specialization of our cities." I think it's possible to say "We should specialize city A for unit production, and B for research commerce, etc." based on their absolute agricultural, commercial and productive capacities and relative locations. I also think it's sometimes appropriate to forgo, in order to achieve a particular kind of victory, what a city could do - in absolute, geographic terms - for another specialization at which it would be a little less advantaged.

An example of this is when a city has a number of hills and several flood plains. Does it suit the desired victory condition more to groom it to produce GPP, or to have the greatest possible base production while supporting a worker in each plot? It depends on the kind of victory we want to achieve.

Even at an early stage, I think it's essential for Licentia to consider the city terrain improvements most conducive to victory conditions that match our geographical situation and the advantages of Hatshepsut. Considering city specialization in an isolated way, as if the questions of victory and terrain improvement were separable, is somewhat shortsighted.

Okay, this is awful. Seemingly we've lost almost half our partcipants in a single month. 55 votes in the Term 2 presidential election, and only 25 so far here. I doubt their are going to be more than 4 or 5 more votes either.

This is just a theory of mine( I call it the Swiss Fluctuation System, SFS). I think that the first two elections were very highly particpated in because people were shaping and creating. Now that The demogame has been shaped and created, there will be a drop in particaption, followed by an upswing when people beleive they can start Changing things. I call this the CCCS(Civ Creation and Change Syndrome). If you think about it, people love Civ because they can shape and change and create history. And in such a Mod intensive forum as this, most people here( such as me) have extreme CCCS. I didn't take a break because i have no life.:D

This can be seen in action in the MTDG in a much faster enviroment. Interest in the MTDG flourished and is now waning, but witth rise up a gain when we start, and then die down, and so on and so forth.

Even more evidence of this can be found in the Polictical Parties of this DG. When they start out, interest will flourish, and get stronger. After it reaches its peak and become a entrenched major party, interest will wane. But if the party does not fold after this, interest will spark up again because the memebr see the ability to change it.

Just a thought.

Good race with two good candidates. With that said, I lend my support to Chill. I like what he's done in the past and feel he's made a strong case with some of his answers to my questions.

come-on guys, we need 5 more votes to get chill over the hill
:D

Vote for Chill, he'll get us over the Hill

Just as an update, I've started up an RPG trial run. I'm taking on anybody untill tommorow, so you still have plenty of time to sign up here.

We currently have 7 partcipants, and I'm hoping to beable to atleast get 10 to run through the trial. Hopefully, if all turns out right, the real live RPG will be running in a week. The Economy, story-based, tournament, and one "management" controlled store.

2 more or three more for Chill, cmon guys:goodjob:

I did mean this as an actual question. I have not voted yet, and wanted a little more clarification. Sorry I didn't word my question better. I have still not made a decision, but I will continue to meditate and hopefully Chip will guide me to the correct choice.

wow..tight race...

Time and time again, it feels like everything is wrong. Sometimes, even I feel like I don't even know what's going on. Do we sit and watch it fade away? Would you allow your blood to drain away?

The demogame is decaying, piece by piece, slowly over time. We face a choice, if not now, then sometime soon. Do we let it slip through our fingers? Or do we tighten our grasps?

Our glorious past, is in the past, yet not everything must die. For to long have we just allowed things to remain, and we are running out of time. But we still have tomorrow.

Only 32 people have voted in one of our most important elections? Sorry, to darken your rays of sunshine, but that is pathetic. We can do better, much better, if we take action.

We've created a world inwhich the inside is uglier than the outside. Look at ourselves! This election is enough proof that our principles and standards are just masks! Hardly anyone is voting for me because of my platform, and hardly anyone is voting for Chill because of his platform.

The demogame is slowly fading away, and we must not allow it to disappear. I will not allow it to disappear, and anyone who has enough backbone to change our false principles I'll be honored to stand by. Regardless of the results of this election, I will get the Information Department running, I will get the RPG running, I will get the Help threads running. And I will do it single handedly if need be.

My recent PMs with Chillaxation, have assured me that he will make a capable President. His platform is excellent, even if many did not vote for him because of it. I believe he has the efficiency and organization to handle the job.

Often I find myself to be my worst enemy, this may or may not be one of those circumstances. Only time will tell. As someone recently said to me "You often have the best ideas, but no one follows them because their yours." I know it's true, but will it change? Doubtful, if it did change, it wouldn't be me.

------------

Their are some who will tell you that it's impossible, or that it's inevitable. Yeah, it's only been impossible so far because of them. Now is the time to take action, for better or for worst.
