Science Poll 3A: Tech Trading Policy

As you may already know, we'll be completing Alphabet in the next turnchat. So it's time to start trading techs. What should our trade policy be, as in, whom are we willing to trade with, and what techs are we willing to trade?

Please note that this is a non-binding opinion poll. I will use the outcome of this poll as a guideline when I draw up a "tech trade plan", which I will do when I can see what techs everyone has, and what they want for them. I will then put that plan up for citizen discussion and polling, and we will go from there.

I said other for reasons I put in the science minister's term 3 thread.

I use these tenets:
1. Do we need it?
2. Can we afford it?
3. Can we trade it profitably?

Some techs are important to us now and others are not depending on our research path. I would like to make the case that trades that lead us to CoL are important now but IW, since we can't build settlers or swords, is not.

Keep in mind that the results of this poll will only be used as a guideline for a specific tech plan that I will be proposing once we've finished alphabet. Whomp, I think that you are more concerned with the specific trades that we'll be doing: I'll have those for you after the next TC. In the meantime, I'll keep in mind that you're leaning towards the minimal trade, and want to focus on religious techs. Does this sound about right?

@ Whomp, I honestly believe that if you follow those tenets from trading the way that they are used in , you will end up with the AI despising you. Trading around to get a big tech lead will kill you.

The thing about the "we fear you are becoming too advanced" is that it doesn't go away when the AI gets ahead of you. I once got way ahead after getting Alpha and the AI started only trading with each other. I fell behind all but 1 and they still wouldn't trade ANY techs to me due to the fear of me becoming too advanced. It's sucks but it's part of
