Vegas Baby! Yeah!
As Rik suggested this thread is for those who would like to see a GalCiv2 sub-forum added.

EDIT - Please include why you feel a dedicated sub-forum for the game would be helpful. It appears to me to be very civ-like in design and I feel it would be a perfect addition to a civfanatics forum. I could easily envision players of civ games enjoying a similar TBS space-based type game and having the desire to discuss the same topics of game strategy, technology, tactics, etc. as we all enjoy doing in the main civ forums. :)

Personally this game seems perfect for a Sub-forum. It has all of the aspects of the Civilization series that need to be talked about; strategy, general discussions, and modifications. I'm sure there are lots of people like myself who would rather stay here at the CFC and discuss it instead of heading somewhere else. Especially since I'm still modding and playing CivIV! Much simpler with only one IE window open. :p

I must voice my support of a GalCiv2 subforum. Aside from just being Civilization-like, the game has some very deep gameplay. A subforum would allow for, like the standard Civ forums, discussion of strategies, games you've played, neat things you've noticed, plus postings of our ship designs, and of course game stories. :) It would be most convenient.

I must agree that a sub-forum would be really great. The game is basically civ in space.GalCiv II could use some Civ interface features to make it more accsessible to new players and Civ4 could use some suggestions on how to improve the AI by taking GC2 as an example.

People can suggest ways on how GC2 can be improved based on their Civ experience and they can also suggest ways to improve CIV4 based on their GC experience. I think there are a lot of things the two have in common and they can both benefit from each other.

Playing a game of civ4 and then jumping to GC2 after victory is something you have to experience. After you have conquered the Earth with CIV you can jump right to GC2 and take on the galaxy. Interraction.

hell its even called civ...

Not much of a stretch adding it with a name like that in the Title!

Add my vote as well. BGR, WE, and GN have all provided great reasoning for such an addition.

It's a no-brainer IMO, GalCiv is the perfect compliment to the Civ series, and at least as deserving of space here as some of the other games currently showcased, moreso than some.

Agreed... We already have a Master of Orion sub-forum.... why not one for GalCiv2 as well?

I am leonel, and I approve of this request! :)

I think a subforum would be great. GC2 is getting excellent reviews (see:

http://www.metacritics.com/games/platforms/pc/galacticcivilizations2dreadlords

) and will be around for some time. The game has comparable depth to CivN and will benefit from the same sort of strategic analysis that we're so used to here, but is rare for other strategy games. Creating the subforum early (soon after launch) will give it a better chance of jumpstarting with critical mass, as people post their analysis and discoveries.

Check out this quote from Brad Wardell at Stardock, concerning sales:

We just got our report on the first week of sales of Galactic Civilizations II. Despite some availability problems, we're told that we're presently the best selling software title at Walmart. Let me be clear: Not just #1 PC game, but overall software.

Great news. The market is there for good games that have good gameplay. PC Gaming is not dead! Even TBS isn't dead. :woohoo:

If it weren't for CIV4 and GC2 it would have been long dead...

edit: TBS i mean

I agree!
GALCIV2 deserves a subforum :)

*going back to play galciv2... those bastard drengin are gonna pay their sneak attack on my starbase*

It IS pretty close to Civilization in space...
And MoO does have its own, this might too.
All three games do attract the same people, after all.

It sure is a forum about Civilization. But what are the sub-forums about other games doing in it? Especially games that have nothing to do with Civ like RON? Hell, what is the purpose of the "Other games" sub-forum then?
