What do we know about Russia? Where are they?

I'm giving Russia MFN because, geographically, Peter is our most natural ally. Russia is to the south of our neighbor, the Mongols, and Germany lies to the east of all three. We're less likely to have territorial problems with them for the time being.

When I look at the foreign relations screen, Peter and Genghis seem pretty pleased with one another. I took this to mean they would be unwilling to declare war on each other. Am I missing something here?

If you go into the trade screen with Russia, the selection to ask Peter to declare on Ghengis is not red but white indicating that it is available for trade (albeit for a price).

Russia is farthest away from us, so no territorial disputes will occur and they are willling to declare war on our worst enemy if we ask, so I think they deserve Most Favored Nation Status (MFNS)

Russia is who i see has our staunchest future ally. The territiorial disputes will be at a minimum, and they are willing to help use kill the mongols, AND, in the future, it would be in both our interests to kill Germany!

Russia is easily our best ally. Currently, they are the only nation we have open borders with (I believe), they are willing to trade, and they don't like Mongolia, just like we don't.

Look at the latest Turn chat thread in the main Civ4 DemoGame forum. One of the last posts should have the last save of the last turn chat. If you open it make sure that you don't move any units or anything that can't be un-done.
