These were requested by Aranor for a greek mod. It's a slight modification of the Phalanx to give him a full round shield and a bit of a reskin, and modification of Praetorian with a different sword and the same shield (as the Phalanx).

All I have to say is you did it again :D

Very nice as usual. :goodjob: Now all they need are helmets and tanks. :p

edit - airtanks that is.

Seriously, great work as usuall. Do you know that you can modify the Pretorian from example file. You can edit the polygons of unit or weapon within boundries of skin envelope and when you export it, it will retain all the animations.

Yeah, but the thing is it doesn't work in my copy of max6 (missing some plugins I think) and I have yet to install the max7 trial because I don't want to waste the trial period unless I know I'll be able to dedicate a lot of time to it. :)

I don't think these plugins are really important. They are for max's new features but if they weren't used in those units it should work. Give it a try. Open it save and reopen.

Mr. Rabbit,

Would it be possible to take the spearman model you have above and give him a sword? I'm looking for a new Greek Swordsman and I want it to be distinct from the Praetorian.

If you could I'd appreciate it, if not no sweat.

Many thanks.

No it would look wierd when he use the sword as a spear.

ah poop.

I'm needing a replacement greek swordsman and that spearman with the shield would make a sweet spartan looking swordsman.

is it possible to put the spearman skin on the swordsman's body?

Also, just for the record. I have less than zero in terms of ability, skill and capability when it comes to remodeling etc so I'm completely dependant upon others for which I 'm grateful for their work.

The praetorian is great, awesome job on the skin. He looks like a gladiator with that sword.

Thanks Robo. I was actually thinking of making a collection of gladiator-like units. I have plenty of weapons modeled and the skinning is fairly simple for gladiators, so maybe I'll do it someday.
