Hey Karl.... Why didn't your egg hatch... maybe it's rotten. :)

Honestly, I don't know if he has one already made, just waiting for the patch, or if he's going to produce it after the patch. He said it shouldn't take more than hours to make, as he has an idea in his head.

Questions I have…

1.) Is the Multi-Team Demogame basically a PBEM? I have no experience with them so am unfamiliar with this type of game.

2.) How can I learn what type of team each team is? What I mean is according to my readings it sounds like one of the team may be a bit anarchist, which is something I’d prefer not being involved with. How can I know the type of government a team has without first joining it?

3.) What all is involved with this type of game? I couldn’t find any basic summary of what a MTDG is.

Thanks everyone. I’m curious about this type of game, but would like to know more about it before I consider joining.

1. Basically yes.
2. Each teams stykle will be different. Those from the [c3c] MTDG will know a bit about the various styles of the other teams, but since there are quite a few chnges in the teams, the stykles may have changed from the previous game. The best way you can find out is by talking to teams once you have met them.
3. This will depend on how your team is structured. So I cannot answer this one fully.

1. Yes, it's done PBEM-style, however, that's only for how we send the turn to the next team. In terms of actually playing the save, it is sort of like a SG - a 'leader' will post some screenshots of the save, citizens comment on what they should do this turn (trade with someone else, move X unit somewhere, build something new in city Y, etc.), and then the leader plays the turn, and then sends the save via email to the next team who does the same.

2. You'd be best to contact each civilization individually - specifically their UN rep. You can get a listing here...or the UN reps can just post here. Either way works, and I don't see why they wouldn't care about sharing. But yes, there are some structures that range from anarchy (it's not *total chaos*) to very specific positions, to the middle of that.

3. Read my answer to the first question - in principle, that is it. If you would like to see a working example, I suggest you 'join' the Civ3 MTDG, even if just to look at one team's forum for a bit to see how it works. Each team has their own style of play, but it boils down to citizens sharing their opinions and how to run the country, and a leader executing those decisions. It's hard to exactly say a summary besides the basic framework there is, because it differs from team to team.

I do advise you to join the Civ3 MTDG to get an idea of how it works and then you can make an easier decision of if you'd like this type of game. :)

A patch? I seriously doubt that there will be a patch before the expansion comes out.

The expansion is due near Christmas correct? I'd rather not wait that long before the game starts.

No, a patch is in the works, Firaxis has confirmed that, and says they hope to have it out soon (maybe within a week)...the expansion is due in the summer, probably near July...just guessing though, because they need some time to work on it.

I think we should give it a week, and if by saturday next week there is no patch, then we should start the game

No matter when the expansion is, Chieftess already has a working expansion on her computer. Once it is finalized, it shouldn't take much effort to release it online. I'm sure it will come in the expansion for those not updating, but they would release the patch early.

Methos..Piffle is comprised of anarchists. We have a lot of SGers so what can I say. It's worked for us, so far, in the C3C MTDG and having experienced the Civ4 demogame I'm not I'd want it any other way. It's not for everyone. Just my penny's worth.

We will not have a specific turnplayer but more of a "got it" approach like a SG. Hopefully this will keep people engaged through discussion before the save is played. Ultimately, I find the most interesting aspect of these games to be the out of game diplomacy (IM, PM, Email etc). Nothing better than a good negotiation.

Loco has a very unsophisticated goverment consisting of an elected head who plays the game for the team. The rest of us discuss what we should do with the executive leader makeing most final decisions. Wether they be made by his idea of the publics opinion or by polls.

@ Methos:
I'm not the UN rep, but I can tell you that Epsilon Team has a highly structured government with multiple elected positions and lots of opportunity for discussion and involvement.

We're also very mysterious ;) so I can't tell you any more than that or I might lose my tongue.

More will be revealed in time...
