An orc with a spear. It's for FFH but i share with everyone.

In fact, it is the warrior model with the spearman animation. We can put some animation to a other model (but it doesn't worl for all) I presume the models must have the same "bones"
 
Awesome work, thanks C.Roland. Would it be possible to get some attack animations on the spy, great prohet, great engineer and missionaries using your newfound technique?
 
I never even noticed this before! You gotta tell me how you managed to get the warrior model working with spearman animations, I made several attempts to do something similar and it either crashes or I just totally mess up the models.

Ummmm, maybe I'll have to check.

My technique is really simple. I tell my story (It's hard to tell a story in english when it's not your first langage so sorry for the syntax mistakes).

Some months ago i saw in the New civilizations forum a zulu mod (I forgot the author sorry) that use Montezuma with animation of an other leader. Than i try to switch leader animations and for some it work. Some week ago, i read someone (forgot the name sorry) who tell that the swordman and the warrior is alomost the same model, so I realise if the model is the same the bones should be similar and i tried to swit animation and it work with few unit. All you have to do is the copy the warrior's skins and the warrior.nif and warrior_fx.nif in the spearman folder and than delete the original spearman.nif and spearman_fx.nif and than rename your warrior.nif and warrior_fx.nif to spearman.nif and spearman_fx.nif.


Here the combination that I tried.

Swordman-Warrior-Spearman (Fine)
Warrior-Marine (doesn't work)
Warrior-Archer (doesn't work)
Praetorian-Spearman (doesn't work)
Warrior-Archer (doesn't work)
Spearman-Warrior (almost)

Sorry for my bad english.
 
Lol, it's so simple I can't believe I haven't thought of that. :) We should try some mounted unit combinations (cavalry, horse archer, etc.)

It's too bad it's so limited (I mean a marine and a warrior should still have the some bone structure) but even with the few working combos it's still pretty nice. Good work on finding out that stuff and figuring it out Roland. :thumbsup:
 
ok, could make a thread or something to gather combinations that work ?! will have to look at this too, ok, guys i see, i definetely need more time again!

Yeah ! a Thread with possible combination will be usefull.

I think that was me.
I had tried to do the same thing than you, many weeks ago, but i didn't manage to make it work. I focused too much on the warrior and the swordsman, and didn't try any other units.
So congratulations, i'm glad someone finally found out how to do it.

I've tried again with your method, to put the warrior's model with the swordsman's animations, but the game just doesn't want to start (i'm stuck in the loading screen). I suppose they must not work together but this is quite strange since they obviously ARE the same model, except for the weapons ... :(
