Ok, i thought about gathering here what combinations / switches of animations from one model to another work.

It is possible for some units to get the animation of another unit, just by changing the name of the nif files to the other units name and replacing the original.

For example:

Answer:

Copy and paste settler_female_128.dds, settler_female.nif, settler_female_fx.nif, settler_child_128.dds(if you need her staff).

rename settler_female.nif, settler_female_fx.nif
to aztec_jaguar.nif, aztec_jaguar_fx.nif.
Don't rename settler_female_128.dds, settler_child_128.dds.

This tells almost everything you need, textures still need to be named like the !model! u use.
Model has to be named like the one you want the animation from.

Post if u found out something new.

For example:
Melee units seem to work with other melee unit animations
Missionaries seem to work fine with most melee unit animations

Please be creative and try some combinations and let us know what works, what not and perhaps post a screenshot if you aint sure what to think about it ;)
Aim of this Thread is to extend the range of units available to all you modders out there.

I will try....
...Samurai animation on different units (spear sword, etc...) and vise versa
...giving the Buddhist Missionary a combat animation
...giving the great artist a combat animation
...around with the conquistador (explorer) giving him other combat animations and weapons (need him for wh mod)

So if u want to, then please try something different

cool! I think the pink staff is only because you didn't put it the male settlers dds files also in. The staff seems to be defined with the male model. Am I right?
For the witch elf above would be cool trying out the archer animation with only the two daggers.:D
Unfortunately my skill's still quite poor with this.

Ups: just noticed the arms and neck on second read, well think I was to eager on that one. still great to see there are animations making the female stop weeping in combat!

Haha! This is totally awesome! I was wondering how we could do some female fighters - some serious texture work, maybe couple of 6-polygon lumps on the chest :D but with this working... Just off the top of my head - amazons (obviously), harpies, witches, vampires.

Maybe somebody could try some of missionary and great people models... Some of these would work great as wizards and other fantasy units but they don't have attack animations making them rather limited.
 
Common spearman and warrior is a bit bugged tho. Her arms are "twisted" in the guard stance for warrior, and the spear points backwards when she holds it above her head.
 
Ok, i got a warrior monk!!!!! to work
And Maceman to Swordsman, Warrior, Searman, Pikeman!
I found out that Great Artist wont work with combat animation.
Furthermore i found sme problem several times, the one with the left arm being twisted onto the back of the model. someoone should look into the nif files for this!

Great Stuff witgh the female and most important, great stuff on the mounted units! well, ok little problem with horse, but i think a knight with a lance is worth much more than a twisted leg!!!
