Updated with more shields, at the bottom of the post.

ORIGINAL POST (26/03/06) Download

This is a collection of eight new shields that I created. Each comes with a skin, supports a glossmap (although it only works when attached to units that use glossmap), and has two versions - one that supports transparency (e.g. roundshield.nif) and one that supports team color (e.g. roundshield_tc.nif). I've done this because the two things are incompatible. Here's a screenshot that you can also use as reference. :)
Note that the team color version doesn't properly show team color. I can fix that but it's time consuming and boring, so I'll only do that if somebody needs it.

So just to clarify, there are no units here, just the shields. They can be attached to any civ4 unit using techniques found in the NIF Viewer tutorial in my sig.

My hope is to make several similar collections in the future (swords, hammers, helmets, misc. items, etc.) so that the CFC can use them to create a large variety of units without having to model the same things ten times, or worse yet, create a whole new unit just cause they needed it to have a feathered hat :D

Note about the skull and the crescent shield: The horns on the skull shield and those brush things on the crescent shield can be removed in the NIF viewer.

UPDATE (05/14/06) Download

Added three more shields, one based on Lord of the Rings shield design, and two just random shields, one with Lion design and one with a horned skull.

Enjoy :)

Very cool!
I don't suppose you would be willing to do a simple elf shield would you??
I know, I'm terrible, you give an inch and I always ask for a mile :D
Heh. I don't know when I'll get around to doing this, but in the mean time you can use the knight shield, it's pretty close to what you want. What's more, there might be a way to rescale it to be higher and thus pretty much exactly what you need. However, about that you should ask seZereth, he's the expert on non-uniform rescaling of objects :)

Stretching in one direction like that should be simple enough. just change one of the "1"s to approx 1.4, it's likely to be the top left one to make it longer, though it maybe one of the other two, try each but make sure the other two are set to 1 when you do.
