Hello, my second post ever here. Hope someone will answer. I just started playing Civ III, I've had it for a long time but just never played it. Shame on me. Anyway, I am still having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to play the game, even after having read the manual. It seems like all of you here are big pros, you know how the AI is going to respond, you all know how to wage war, etc. Right now I am in the middle of a game playing as the Chinese, attempting to conquer the world. It looks like I am doing ok so far, but I have this feeling that when I find a way to cross some water to attack some other folks, I am going to get my butt handed to me. I only have riders, longbow and musketmen. It looks like the other cultures are going to be a lot more advanced than me. I think, (I'm not at my computer with the game on it) I am in the later 1800's and my govt type is Despotism, playing Chieftain. Any hints on how to continue? Also, is Civ IV much better, is it worth it? What's the best way to learn to play the game well? Hope these questions don't appear too stupid. I am really not much of a gamer. Golf (Links 2003) is about all I really played before, and a few shooters which I had to cheat on. Except for the original Descent.
