ConcNES, from Zen to terror and back.

Year 1999, just for the millennium the world isn’t yet struck by terrorism. The stock exchanges are still stable. Will the western world be prosperous or will it be struck by a wave of terrorism. Will the world in this NES feel the pain and incomprehension of the third world and the Islamic world or will it work together to a peaceful future.

Your part in this NES will be to write history, please think about realistic things and current relationships.

Do not post yet!

Economy: I divided the economy in a number of 1 to 100, you could say it this way:

- Shattered <1
- Barely functioning 1-5
- Mostly Functioning 5-10
- Functioning 10-15
- Severe Depression 15-20
- Depression 20-25
- Recession 25-30
- Failing 30-35
- Stable 35-40
- Normal 40-50
- Above Normal 50-60
- Growing 60-70
- Strong 70-80
- Very Strong 80-90
- Prosperous 90-100

But I will use the numbers mostly.

Industry: To keep the game fair and interesting I will look at the current situation of that country to make up what the industry number is. I will divide it from 1 to 10.

Trade, there is a possibility of trading, this will cost you 3 eco/points for both country´s (see this as an investment) and will return you if it all goes up to plan 2 ecopoints (except when they are diamonds from a war territory, like in the real life they are worth nothing, but I will decide that). Trading can be more profitable if there is a whole trading association behind it.

Mobilization: When in war you could mobilize your country, this will give you automatically 25% more divisions, but will drop your economy also down with 30% so when you have got an economy of 50 then there are 15 points lost, so you will have only 35 points (so then you have got a stable or failing economy) (yes war comes with a high prize)

Stability
Does just as it sounds, determines how stable your nation is. The higher the level, the better. If you do anything drastic to your nation, that will affect Stability, negatively. Stability can be increased, through projects, or Government change. The number in brackets determines the eco needed to be invested to get to the next level. Stories really help with increasing stability. The concept of stability also includes other things like moral, government approval rating, culture and stability itself.

Number in brackets show how many eco points are required to get that level from the previous level.

Stability types:
1. Revolutionary
2. Dangerous (3)
3. Unstable (2)
4. Normal (2)
5. Above Normal (2)
6. High (3)
7. Amazing Stability (4)

Projects/Technologies: To boost economy you may start projects, or to get UU’s you may invest in technologies. I will decide how much there goes of your economy points to invest in a new technology or project.

Culture
None-Divided (3) -Untrusting (1) -Average (2) -Strongly Cultured (2) -Devoted (2) -Patriotic (3)-Hyperpatriotic (3) -Jingoist (4) -Uberpatriot (5)

Confidence
Lynching-Hateful (3) -Resentful (1) -Barely Tolerating (2)-Tolerating (2)-Respecting (2)-Admiring (3) -Loving (4) -Nation Personified (5)

Education
None-Dumb (3) -Illiterate (1) -Tolerable (2)-Literate-Educated (2) -Well Educated (2) -Perfect (3) -Academic (4) -Enlightenment (5)

None - Mob (3) - Survivors (3) - Green (3) - Inexperienced (2) - Tolerable (2) -Trained (4) - Veterans (4)- Professional (5) -Elite (6)

The next option I didn’t mention in the preview, so we will vote for it. My idea is to make an International World bank. This bank has from the beginning on a deposit of 30 ecopoints that can be divided to other nations, in this bank all members do not have a veto right, only majority counts. (This bank is situated in Brussel, Belgium)

Army: # of C is Cruisers/
F is Frigates/
D is Destroyers

France has 11 million soldiers?Riiiiiiiiight...

the world isn’t yet struck by terrorism.

Actually, yes it is, only America isn't yet. :p

Will consider this, but won't joint yet.

I will take Russia

The European militaries are way screwed up. UK does not have 12 million soldiers, France does not have 11, and Germany does not have 15. Those numbers are ridiculous. Russia has just under 1 million, the rest a little bit less than that. China has almost 3 million.

Постеснялся значит :(

I'll take USA.... and I will do some crazy stuff.

Concona I also think you should revise a lot of numbers.

The economy numbers are out of whack too; no way has Canada and Australia have approximately equal incomes to the Uk ,and they certainly don't have economies (and even more importantly industries) twice as poweful as China!

What source are you using for these numbers? Personally I'd recommend the CIA world factbook if your not already using it.

Here's a quick summary of the top GDPs, and how the Economy Proportions would fall. These are 2005 numbers of course, I could be bothered to dig deeper. All of the EU together should only just beat the US.

Code:
[U]Nation GDP (PPP adjusted) Economy Points?[/U]
United States $ 12,410,000,000,000 124
China $ 8,182,000,000,000 82
Japan $ 3,914,000,000,000 39
India $ 3,699,000,000,000 37
Germany $ 2,454,000,000,000 25
United Kingdom $ 1,869,000,000,000 19
France $ 1,822,000,000,000 18
Italy $ 1,651,000,000,000 17
Brazil $ 1,568,000,000,000 15
Russia $ 1,539,000,000,000 15
Canada $ 1,080,000,000,000 11
Mexico $ 1,068,000,000,000 11
Spain $ 1,017,000,000,000 10
Korea, South $ 965,300,000,000 10
Indonesia $ 901,700,000,000 9
Australia $ 642,100,000,000 6

I maybe be miss reading how economy is meant to work in this NES of course...

Canada has 12000 Battleships!!! Heaven save China...

US Army: 134,813,023 soldiers, 7,620 tanks - China!!! I'm coming for you!!!!

sadly enough the stats are not balanced for a realistic modern nes. But playing like this can bring more balance to nations (ofcouse 134 million soldiers for the US is laughable).

Oeps....forgot to change the numbers in the word-doc.....but anyway...why did you guys posted....I wasn't totally finished..

With that many troops you could enforce military rule in evey nation on the planet
I'm afraid I'll have to support the troops with ALL the loot from the planet also.

I think its a mistake and a mistake of the Excel by the looks of it.
