v. 1.61 Bug Report!

Hey,

I just DLed 1.61, totally stoked for an awesome game, and I got some bugs :(

First, during the load bar to enter a game, the Tech Advisor popped up, unprompted and empty... I exited that and hit play, like I used to.

Then, I got another error. I have no interface at all... Where the menu bar was is gone, where the unit/city controls were, gone... Anybody have any ideas?
 
When I installed the patch all the interface text disappeared, and re-installing Civ4 and then the patch fixed everything. Maybe you can try that?

I have no saved game since I reinstalled... Plus I have auto clear cache...
 
This sounds like either not clearing cache (hold down shift while starting game)..
OR.. you have installed some mods that is not compatible with 1.61 (see if there is anything in any customassets dir)
 
I had the same problem because I loaded the game with a mod attached, so far it seems the patch has effectively 'broken' every mod I have for the game. I haven't had time to try them all though, so far I know it broke the XX century mod.

Not sure however, it might have just been an incompatability with that particular mod or it might just be a fluke.
 
I also have Tech Advisor appearing during load and no Interface. AltI CtrlI are no good.

Very depressed and getting bitter.
 
Just hold on a bit, Gogf and I are trying to figure it out... If anyone has suggestions, please help!
 
hmmmm. I wonder if we need to uninstall. then go in and clean out custom assets, mods and everything......Then do a superclean install. Aaargh. All those mods and saved games....
 
O.K. Good and Bad. If I delete the contents of mods folder and custom assets folder everything loads fine. Haven't taken it further yet......
 
Should not have to do a full deinstall and delete things.. just rename the customassets folder to something else (like customassets_old)
