Eragon mod.
What it will include
New civilizations
new units
New techs
New scenro
Hero's

It might include-
New leader hero system
new unit modles for dragon riders when it is possible to make them.

We are still looking for anyone who might be able to help with the mod. We still need someone who can python.

Hero sytem-
each civs hero is the civs leader.eg galabotrix is the empires leader but he is also one of there heros.
all the characters can be trained, but if a "leader" type hero, dies, then the civ gets a new leader based on who would be most likely out of the minor or major characters. For instance, If the elven leader were to die in battle, the leader for that civ would be replaced. This would be hard though....

Heroes would just train like normal units, but you can only train them once (no coming back to life).

Basic Units for civs:
Civ-Varden-units-Swordsman-du van gata mage-archer-dwarven warrior-Dwarven Axeman-Dwarven stone cleaver-spearman.
civ-elves-elven swordsman-elven archer-elven rider(horse)-elven mage-elven scout-elven singer bowmen.
civ-dwarvs-dwarven axeman-dwarven stone cleaver-dwarven royal guard-feldunost rider-dwarven urgulhorn bowmen.
civ-surda-knight-spellcaster-spearman-archer-swordsman-royalguard
civ-empire-empiric swordsman-archer-blackhand assasins-spearman-longbowman-empire eliet guard
civ-urguls-urgul axeman-urgul maceman-kull-eliet kull.
this is not the final list and might change.

Team so far
Me-Hero's and units
Dalek Master-civs and civics
Zenious-Technologys
Ice 2k4-Map and heros

I would like to thank in advance to everyone who lent us there unit and button textures modles and anything else.
units-seZerith

Iv tried but im useless at modding

so if anyone would like to mod civ for eragon please go ahead lol ;)

I'm useless at modding too- but that sounds cool. I'll keep watch.

have you read the books then???

If nobody makes one now, Ask again after the film comes out, or just reawken this thread. Don't give up though.

if I had the patience I would try. But I'm not to great at modding right now, nor do I have the time between work, and school, and filming, and writing, and playing CIV IV.

Cool idea though.

I dont think Eragon would make a good Civ mod.
Also you are aware that Eragons story is stolen from Star Wars right?

Well, Star Wars is good. Plus, every story is influenced from something.

no i dont think the eragon story is stolen from starwars. Just because it has the empire in it dosnt mean it was stolen from starwars.

nah. Eragon is stolen from about 10 different fantasies and sci-fis.

by the way, from wikipedia:

There has been much debate over whether incorporating Elves and Dwarves similar to Tolkien's is derivative or respectful. It has also been pointed out that many names in Eragon resemble those in Tolkien's work, including

Arya - Arwen
Isenstar - Isengard
Mithrim - mithril
Eragon - Aragorn
Angrenost - Angrenost, the Sindarin name for Isengard
Morgothal - Morgoth
Elessari - Elessar
Furnost - Fornost
Hadarac Desert - Harad Desert
Additionally, Paolini's Beor mountains are named based on the word "Beorn", which is another word for bear. In The Hobbit, there is a character known as Beorn, who has the ability to transform into a bear. There is a character named Beor in Tolkien's Silmarillion. On the map of Alagaësia, the spelling of the place name Melian is identical to the name of the character Melian the Maia of Tolkien's The Silmarillion. The Grey Folk, said to be the first few magical beings resemble the Sindarin, who are the Grey Elves. The 'Lonely Mountain' Utgard in Eragon is thought to be based on the Lonely Mountain Erebor of the Lord of the Rings. These are a few examples of what is believed to be a wider occurrence.

Yet another criticism is that the plot closely resembles that of the original Star Wars saga. Characters are also similar, down to Brom who is supposedly the last of his order. Brom's sacrifice to save Eragon resembles that of Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars. Paolini countered these two remarks by stating that most fantasy is derivative, and that Star Wars has heavy ties to Buck Rogers and Dune. Furthermore, he also believed Tolkien to echo a famous Norse myth about a ring that made a dwarf invisible, made popular by Richard Wagner's epic opera series "Der Ring des Nibelungen", or "Ring of the Nibelung," despite the fact that Tolkien himself once said; "Both rings were round and there the resemblance ceased."

this does not mean the book would not make a good mod though :)

yes you could say that all fantasys are stolen from 1 another. They all have the same plot and storyline one way or another. i dont think he intentionaly stole some ideas. The whole fantasy thing is just a repeate of ideas evil v.s good blah blah blah infact starwars and lord of the rings where probaly stolen from somewhere else. But that dosnt matter anyway it is still diffrent from starwars in sorts one or two of the things match but most of its diffrent. it would still make a good mod.
anyway lets stop this pointless discussion.

not the actual thread just the stealing ideas bit. its pointless and has nothing to do with modding eragon for civ 4

by the way, what do you intend this to be modwise?

...like, do you just want some new civs with the leaders (easily done, just need some god pictures), or do you want a full-scale scenario with events and magic attacks etc?

Hey, I read the books, I actually liked them. The other day I was thinking about trying to make a mod based on the book, but I'm not a modder, so you get the point. I also think that it will be a little too much like Fall from Heaven, becasue you will have the whole fantasy thing going, and you'll also have to make hero-like character/units, because that's what the book revolves around.

If it was changing the civilizations i could prob do that. I was thinking more along the lines of tc. With diffrent units techs civs and graphics ect.......

it would be a bit like fall from heaven but with diffrent units heros techs and storyline. Also there is a utility out there some where that lets you incopartae heros into the game.

Good idea for a mod. I'm not very good at modding, but I might be able to make a couple of maps or some other things, like maybe with the xml.

Why are we all rubbish at modding here? :p
this sounds a very XML mod, and someone else would help with python, or even SDK stuff later... :mischief:

I think the problem is, in the book, the empire controlled all the human cities, even though the human cities didn't like the ruler, for the most part anyway. The cities didn't have the military or the power to defeat the ruler. Instead heros pop out here and there that try to destroy the empire. Now oyu may be able to work some of this around, because I saw the desert mod had a story lie, where at certain turns (or events) something in turn would happen (i.e. rommel landing in north africa.)

I just think you'll have a lot to work out, idea-wise. After you work all that out, I'm sure you can get a mod going.

I am very willing to help you on this, especially the ideas and story-lines, but I don't know nay xml, python, or c++ modding.
