Well... Same old song...

America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.
- Oscar Wilde

I guess there is a bit of barbarism left ;)

Yes this is truly shocking, you never have problems finding veins with 'Madame le Guillotine'! ;)

Madame le Guillotine went out in the 1970s, very late, but at least it went. When will the US see sense and drop this barbarity to its own people?

I read these articles and think: Nice forgiveness and reconciliation from a nation so closely identifying itself with Christian values.

I take the view that the Americans should be left to run their country without foreigners passing judgement.

As should Iraq, Afghanistan, El Salvador, Vietnam, Granada, Cuba, The Philipines, Nicaragua, Somalia, Venezuala, etc etc ;)

 Good point, but you left a few countries out there with your lazy use of etceterae. :scan:

Mambo: I just pasted from Xeno's post, hence my mistake. Desole

Bozo: What time is good for you?

Id prefer a good old firing squad for my execution.

I do wonder why sticking a needle in someone and dumping poison into them is considered less cruel than putting some rifle rounds through them. Certainly you wouldn't have these sorts of technical issues cropping up.

I didn't have time to type the complete list; I have an appointment next week. :mischief:

Tentatively, after lunch. Im going to have Italian, so I might keel over on my own.

I agree, seems to me that just shooting the guy would have been more merciful than jabbing him with needles for an hour trying to find a vein.

Actually, you could save us both a lot of bother if you were to just pick up my new book and read it over lunch. It's called: "Everything you ever wanted to now about simulating a fire squad with nothing but a crew of Italian waiters, chefs and their kitchen utensils - but were too locked up on Death Row to ask".

Lethal injection is an attempt to santise the process, thereby making it more acceptable to those with morals

Whatever happened to a good old fashioned hanging? Killing someone is not that difficult a thing to do. Hell, it would have been quicker if the executioners had just strangled him with their bare hands.

Moral acceptability has nothing to do with method, you're confusing morality with squeamishness.

Hanging out with the boys from the firing squad or dating Madame le Guillotine seem both preferable to getting poisoned to me.
Heck, even climbing down a tree the fast way with a safety rope around my neck seems better than lethal injections!

Heroin addicts agree: putting needles in the arm is nicer than putting bullets in the heart

Is that the best you can do, pansies?

Wouldn't the most morally acceptable method be the one that inflicts the least amount of pain?

I would say use nerve gas,not only it is painful but its entertaining to watch as well.
