[Medieval / WHFB] NIPPON & CATHAY Armies vol 2

Hi there, first units of the second part for Nippon and Cathay. Here you got the Samurai Longbowman and the Celestial Cavalry.



Both are made with Alazkans technique, so they have doubled polys. hope you can enjoy them nevertheless.

UPDATE:


added Cathay Levy Archer and Archers of the Wall, the last ones have different modeled fx and non fx version, look at both and decide which you like more.
I saw the warlords screenshot of the chinese archer in the gallery, after i did these ones, well, they both follow a similar idea, dont they ;)

These look really cool, I especially like the flags on their backs...reminds me of the Kislev riders.

The wings are just there to pimp-out their armor, they're not functional. :D
 
I think I need a little help getting this to show up in game.

Here's what I did. You tell me where I went wrong.

1 Copied all of the longbowmen files into a folder: My Games\Civ4\CustomAssets\art\units\unique\japan\SamuraiDaikyu

2 Copied all of the files in Samurai Bowman.zip over them.

3 Made this entry in my ArtDefines_Unit.xml

The unit shows up ingame but it doesn't look like a samurai and there is no flag.

sure you cant see them...
i looked into the zip, i only included the file with the _fx extension, so you simply have to change the
<NIF>Art/Units/Unique/Japan/SamuraiDaikyu/longbowman.nif</NIF>
<KFM>Art/Units/Unique/Japan/SamuraiDaikyu/longbowman.kfm</KFM>
<SHADERNIF>Art/Units/Unique/Japan/SamuraiDaikyu/longbowman.nif</SHADERNIF>

into

<NIF>Art/Units/Unique/Japan/SamuraiDaikyu/longbowman_fx.nif</NIF>

<KFM>Art/Units/longbowman/longbowman.kfm</KFM> (the kfm of the originial longbowman, cause i didnt implement new animations)
<SHADERNIF>Art/Units/Unique/Japan/SamuraiDaikyu/longbowman_fx.nif</SHADERNIF>

that should fix it, simply refer to the files included in the zip
 
updated first post with Cathanese light cavalry... the ungols, an allied tribe compensating the lack of good riders in the cathanese empire...

The new units look totally awesome, they'd look great as Mongol, or maybe some other similar civ, UUs. :goodjob:
 
Thanks to chalids Headworks, i could add the Samurai Horse Archer and Samurai knight, both reskins and nif edits of the named models ;)
