Do you think it is possible to get the great library?

Do you think it's possible for us to try to get the great library by researching literature and chopping it? (And do you want to get it?)

Rihiter had this idea and since he's going to play in 2 days, we need to get our research path clear before that day.

The Great Library gives two free scientist specialists to the city until the invention of Scientific Method
It gives 8 culture
It generates 2 Great Scientist points

The city needs a library to build it (we have a library somewhere, right?)
 
I had this idea for a quite long time ;], but I still hope that building TGL is possible for us and I think it's worth a try. I vote "YES, we should try to get it".
 
For the benefit of those who haven't experienced this Wonder's wonders :lol:

what does it do? It's different than in Civ3, but I can't remember exactly what the benefits are.
 
its very different to civ 3, it gives you +2 free scientists and the whole city is more likely to generate a scientist thing.

lit by itself is an alright trading tech, AI sometimes goes for other things first and helps to music if we want to get a free great artist.

but im not so sure if building the GL is really worth the 300 shields it'll cost!
 
I haven't voted yet. Lit in 6 turns seems reasonable, but how long at our current production rate will it take us to get the GL? Can we chop to get it in 10 turns or so?

If we fail at the GL, what other benefits do we get from Lit? I've never been sure about National Epic, but it does appear to give GPP points + culture. Is this worth all those hammers?

agrrrrh.... damn it!... Your right, I have missread the voting posibility... but everybody knows that I'm for "YES" :P
 
Well, to me TGL isn't such a great bonus to us. I don't think we should go for building it. However, if we do go for building it, and we fail at it, isn't all the hammers we used converted into gold for us? I mean our economy isn't that great, and the extra money could really help us for a turn or two.
 
seeing the votes now, a majority thinks it's possible.

I think it's best to research Literature, and i'm not responsible for the building orders

We should definately get lit, and probably try to get TGL. It's a risk, but worth trying, IMO.

this poll was just for me, as Minister of Science to see what our citizens wanted in terms of research
