NESlife

This is a war of evolution, where players have godlike powers…

Starting off in a primitive world with a few primitive species, the object of the game is to create new animal and plant mutations, and try to dominate the planet with them, by eating or otherwise outbreeding everyone else’s. Maybe there will be something like Earth’s evolution… Maybe, sentient species will emerge and it will eventually turn into a normal NES… Maybe it will just get weird :)

This is just for fun, im trying to keep it simple rather than aim for scientific accuracy… but I will try to keep it fairly realistic (hopefully with help from Disenfrancised)…

Players
To play, you can just post rough details of a new mutation. No commitment needed… My idea is that anyone can post to create one or more species, then just check back sometime to see how its doing. If you want to get any further into things, that’s up to you.

’Orders’
People may also want to specify where exactly in the world a new mutation will happen, or try to influence their critters to move to new areas, etc. Players might be able to take control of certain areas of the world with their species. I guess treaties and diplomacy could come into it somewhere :) But all that is optional.

Updates:
In the updates, new mutations will get added to the world, with a certain starting population. This will be mainly based on the population of the thing they evolved from (which would still exist). Be warned that bigger leaps of evolution will receive fewer starting numbers, so it wont be possible to make too big a leap at once.

Also, time will advance by millions of years, and populations of existing things will get updated. I would try to work out which species are doing well and which are declining in numbers (they may even go extinct), as well as any expansion into new areas of the world etc.

Its also possible that massive natural disasters could occur, changing the shape of the world and altering the climate. Random mutations could also happen (random things added by me).

‘Mana’:
I will keep track of who made which species, and those people will receive ‘mana’ based on how many of their creatures are alive, and how large/sophisticated they are.

For ‘advanced’ players, Mana could be spent to change the climate or create natural disasters to kill rival species etc…

Turns:
Not really a turn-based thing or a fixed schedule. Updating should be pretty easy, so I could do it every few days, basically whenever there is something to do.

…

World history:
Spoiler :

Epoch –999 to Epoch 0
Gradually, the planet surface cooled, the seas parted, and a great land mass rose from the ocean.
For billions of years, bacteria were the only living things. Some began pumping out a special waste product, oxygen. Eventually the ocean could hold no more, and oxygen began leaking into the atmosphere.

Epoch 1
With the sea full of oxygen and plankton, more advanced forms of life could begin. Plankton-eating blobs evolved and spread all over the planet. Meanwhile, primitive microbes began combining their efforts, to form algae.

Epoch 2-3
Blobs diversified into various kinds of creatures. There were now predators and prey. The amount of oxygen in the atmosphere continued to grow.

Size: tiny
Habitat: ocean sub-surface
Eats: Minerals
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 5

Thick-skin Land Algae
Ancestor: Land Algae
Info: Evolved to take advantage of the sunlight, gases and minerals found on the surface. Recently, it evolved further, developing a thin, cohesive outer layer to better protect it from drying out. This, in turn, has allowed it to grow in areas it's thin-skinned brethren cannot.
Size: tiny
Habitat: warm land
Eats: minerals
Energy: very low
Origin: Epoch 6

Simple Moss
Created by: Warman17
Ancestor: Land Algea
Info: The Land Algea advanced to have more diversified cells in it's system. Along with the energy producing cells, the algea has developed sexual reproduction through the means of spores, and it has developed a primitive root system to hold it to the ground and rocks to avoid falling off.
Size: tiny
Habitat: warm, moist land
Eats: minerals
Energy: very low-low
Origin: Epoch 6

Spikeball Algae (Algaeus Volvus)
Created by: Silver Steak
Ancestor: Stinger Algae
Info: This evolution of the Stinger Algae has evolved a more complex, cohesive structure, and started to prey on smaller algae. If low on minerals or nutrients, they can detach from the seabed and roll around with the currents in search of food. If it happens to collide with another algae, it slowly unfolds and begins to leach nutrients from it. The remaining hulk is also planted with spores for new Spikeball Algae.
Size: medium
Habitat: shallow oceans
Eats: minerals, smaller algae
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 6

Snapper Algae (Algaeus Meatballus)
Created by: Silver Steak
Ancestor: Stinger Algae
Info: This evolution of the Stinger Algae has focused more on its carnivorous side, with a more complicated internal structure. When its feelers are triggered by a passing animal, the Snapper Algae folds together its branches over the prey in a split second, trapping it inside. The algae can gain more nutrients from the animal by secreting acid to partially digest it, instead of waiting for it to rot. Also, the Snapper Algae uses prey to spread its spores, by releasing the victim half eaten. Then, another animal may eat it and carry away the spores, which are later excreted in a new location.
Size: medium
Habitat: shallow oceans
Eats: minerals, small animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 6

Spiky Land Algae
Created by: TerrisH
Ancestor: Land Algae
Info: Evolved to take advantage of the sunlight, gases and minerals found on the surface. Has started to grow in the form of a thin column in order to allow more surface area to be in the sun. It has also grown into the soil, but has yet to develop a true root-system. It is also adapted to cooler climates.
Size: tiny
Habitat: moist land
Eats: minerals
Energy: very low
Origin: Epoch 6

Spore Algae (Algus paininunluckyhostus)
Created by: BannanLee
Ancestor: Sea Algae
Info: With the evolution of animals which ate it, spore algae look exactly like sea algae except for minute spores littered around it. Spores are carried in the guts of animals until they are excreted in new location, where they can develop into new algae. Also, the spores may begin to develop while still inside an animal, which is uncomfortable or even fatal. Animals are thus reluctant to eat too much spore algae.
Size: tiny-small
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean floor
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 6

Shore Grass
Created by: Luckymoose
Ancestor: Super Sea Algae
Info: Has more advanced internal structure, internal tubes circulate nutrients and water between cells. Fast-growing.

Eats: minerals
Energy: very low-low
Origin: Epoch 6

Toxic Land Algae
Created by: TerrisH
Ancestor: Land Algae
Info: Evolved to take advantage of the sunlight, gases and minerals found on the surface. To survive predation, the land algae have begun to take in certain minerals to increase its toxicity, thereby poisoning those that eat it.
Size: tiny
Habitat: warm, moist land
Eats: minerals
Energy: very low
Origin: Epoch 6

Crystal Algae
Created by: Disnfrancised
Ancestor: Floater Algae
Info: The individual cells of a floater algae mat have produced tiny skeletons of Silicic acid to a)Focus sunlight onto their chloroplasts, b) Provide some protection against predators, c) aid in chemical regulation and d) Help temperature regulation.
Size: tiny
Habitat: ocean surface
Eats: minerals
Energy: very low
Origin: Epoch 6

Crystal Reefs
Created by: Disenfrancised
Ancestor: Crystal Algae
Info: In less turbulent waters, the buds of Crystal Algae sometimes remain attached to the parent cell forming a larger structure. Overtime for some sub species this became the norm, and larger and larger structures of Siliac acid have developed. The use of old cell spaces in the skeleton structure have allowed the new floating "crystal reefs" some clumps being up to 6 metres in diameter and 1.5 in depth to float on the surface of the oceans in a beautiful latticework that focuses light from the surface onto cells lower down in the structure, as well as allowing more efficent use and recycling of its resources.
Size: Large
Habitat: Ocean surface
Eats: minerals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Trapper Plant
Created by: TerrisH
Ancestor: Spiky Land Algae
Info: Has the appearance of a cluster of separate plants, with small and spiky shoots protruding out of the ground, centred around a larger central column. But it is in fact one single plant, connected by a special contractible base. When a small animal strays onto it, and brushes against the spiky outer shoots, the trap is sprung. The base of the trapper plant then attempts to curl up and trap its victim in the grip of its spikes. It does not yet have an efficient system for digesting the victim, but can still obtain useful minerals and nutrients form the corpse.
Size: medium
Habitat: warm, moist land
Eats: minerals, small animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Snapball Algae (Algaeus Meatballus Volvus)
Created by: Silver Steak
Ancestor: Snapper Algae
Info: This evolution of the Snapper Algae has gained the ability to move about when low on nutrients, much like the Spikeball Algae. Still, the Snapball Algae preys on animals, and does not attack other plants. Snapball Algae have a more efficient digestive system. The feelers on the plants act as sensors for prey, and a small smelly bud has developed in the centre of the Snapball as a lure for animals. Otherwise, it is very much like its ancestor.
Size: medium
Habitat: shallow oceans
Eats: minerals and small animals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Clubmosses
Created by: Warman17
Ancestor: Simple Moss
Info: The clubmoss has a more sophisticated structure, with a system for transferring water and nutrients to different parts of the plant. The clubmosses are superior to mosses in that through they can grow upwards, forming larger vertical structures. However they require more sunlight and more stable ground so they can not go in the rocks and cracks and caves like moss can.
Size: small/tiny
Habitat: warm, moist land
Eats: minerals
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 7

Not-so-Simple Moss (Bryophyta Funnius)
Created by: BananaLee
Ancestor: Simple Moss
Info: Very similar to normal moss. However, a creeping stem grows out of the moss containing a ball of spores (like a 'flower' of sorts) and nutrients are transferred to it. Once the ball of spores has ripened, it violently pops open, scattering more spores around the place.
Size: tiny
Habitat: warm, moist land
Eats: minerals
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 7

Spike Reefs
Created by: Disenfrancised
Ancestor: Crystal Reefs
Info: As the Crystal reefs grow larger and larger some cells have become specialised for particular roles. With this the alage cells can be projected out of the water towards the sun without drying out or losing minerals giving a large boost in photosynthetic potential. Out on the open ocean Spike reefs have projections a few feet upwards, but in coastal regions shallow enough for the base of the reef to meet the sea floor the extra stability allows outgrowths metres high. Although generally limited to the ocean and tidal zones, they are beginning to forge up river systems.
Size: Large
Habitat: calm water surface
Eats: minerals and sunlight
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Floating Trapper
Created by: TerrisH
Ancestor: Trapper Plant
Info: Floating Trappers bare only a superficial resemblance to their distant ancestors, as they have abandoned the land and returned to water. Below the waterline, the plant has many spikes dangling from it, and is rooted in place by a long anchoring tendril. It also has a kind of smelly ‘fruit’ to attract animals, and a more efficient system of digesting prey. When the plant needs to eat, it will curl downwards into a ball whenever an animal brushes against one of the dangling spikes. This usually traps the prey and skewers it from all sides. But every so often, the plant allows animals to nibble on the ‘fruit’, and be covered in sticky goo, containing a kind of pollen, which can be exchanged with other floating trapper plants that the animal visits.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: warm, rivers and shallow water
Eats: minerals, small animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Blowgun Trapper
Created by: TerrisH
Ancestor: Trapper Plant
Info: Instead of physically curling up to trap its prey, the Blowgun Trapper uses compressed gas to launch a hail of small needle projectiles at its victim. These are loaded with deadly chemicals, designed to quickly disable the prey and to begin dissolving it from the inside. The broad area of spikes provide an obstacle, and tend to ensure that a stricken animal will remain at the base of the plant, where it can be digested and its nutrients absorbed. The Blowgun Trapper also has an improved root system, more efficient digestion of prey, and a primitive ‘bulb’ for storing water and nutrients during lean times.
Size: medium
Habitat: warm land
Eats: minerals, small animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Kate Moss
Created by: BananaLee
Ancestor: Not-so-Simple Moss
Info: This is a further advancement from not-so-simple moss. It's "roots" are stronger, making them grab on much harder onto rocks and dig harder into little fissures. In addition, the spore stems become multiple ones that creep in all directions, smothering whatever it comes across.
Size: small
Habitat: warm, moist land
Eats: minerals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Simple Fern
Created by: Warman17
Ancestor: Clubmoss
Info: A simple fern-like plant, with dedicated leaf and branch structures.
Size: tiny-medium
Habitat: warm, moist land
Eats: minerals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Simple Grass
Created by: Warman17
Ancestor: Simple Moss
Info: The moss has begun to evolve small leaf-like blades into a large network of underground roots. The grass is versatile, able to live anywhere on land there is some water and soil. Without anything to block out it's sunlight, the simple grass inhabits both the wet and arid areas of the land masses.
Size: tiny-small
Habitat: land
Eats: minerals
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 8

Threadworm
Created by: Disenfrancised
Ancestor: Wormyblob
Info: Info: A much smaller and thinner version of the Wormyblob, limited eyesight. Slips inside the mouth of an Uberblob or Exoskeleblob whilst they feed then burrows out of the digestive tract with a single sharp tooth (related to the Paddleworms) and rapidly breeds within the nutrient rich body cavity before the host dies and they escape.

Giant Paddleblobfish
Created by: The Farow
Ancestor: Paddleworm
Info: The Paddleblobfish's heart grew more efficient over time to handle the growing fins of the animal. The brain also became more complex to out smart the various prey in the ocean. The lengthened fins and tail of the animal allow it to move quicker. This creature has also grown much larger to be able to prey on a much larger variety of animals.
Size: medium-large
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean
Eats: animals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 6

Tiny Paddleblobfish
Created by: The Farow
Ancestor: Paddleblobfish
Info: This evolution of the paddleblobfish has become much smaller in size and is a lot more social then its larger cousin. These much smaller versions feed on algae while attaching itself to the rocks with simple claws. They also feed on small organisms in the rocks.
Size: small
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean

Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 6

Reaper (Wormus Celeristrikus)
Created by: Lord_Iggy
Ancestor: Flapperworm
Info: Its rear fins have grown larger still, allowing this creature to reach higher speeds. Its body has grown streamlined, its arms tucked into its sides. The Reaper's mouth has become stronger and toothier, and has developed a strong jaw. The Reaper's eyes are developed beyond the level of its ancestors. Its combination of speed, deadly jaws, and keener eyesight make it a much more deadly hunter. Fortunately for the rest of the world's species, Reapers are fiercely territorial, and often kill and eat each other if they get into border conflicts.
Size: medium-large
Habitat: shallow ocean
Eats: animals
Energy: medium-high
Origin: Epoch 6

Spiral Shell
Ancestor: Coneworm
Info: Its cone shell has gradually become more compact by curling up into a spiral. Its internal structure is now more developed and efficient overall. It has also adapted to survive away from shallow water.
Size: small
Habitat: ocean
Eats: plankton, baby animals
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 6

Clazer (Wormus Aeriatus)
Created by: Lord_Iggy
Ancestor: Reaper
Info: Clazers have evolved giant fins, which it has evolved to use for both flight and swimming. Clazers live in the ocean, but can leap out of the water and glide for long distances above the waves. From this position, it has an advantage in hunting unsuspecting animals just below the water. Occasionally, it can also snatch smaller land animals from along the shoreline. It has a higher appetite to fuel its higher-speed lifestyle.
Size: medium
Habitat: ocean
Eats: animals
Energy: high
Origin: Epoch 7

Noisy Paddleblobfish
Created by: The Farow
Ancestor: Tiny Paddleblobfish
Info: As the Tiny Paddleblobfish became more social the brain grew to handle the various communication signals. The Noisy Paddleblobfish soon had to create more ways to communicate, so they began to make clicking noises. The cooperation with its own species is necessary for the survival of the individual. A group of these animals can also make a cacophony of alarm calls, which distracts and deters all but the most determined predators.
Size: small
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean
Eats: small animals, plants
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Frogus-Icky (Toadius Nemato)
Created by: Alex994
Ancestor: Nematoda
Info: The Nematoda after being stuck inside an inland lake have not only evolved, but diversified! As the seas have become more and more crowded in the inland lake, the "Frogus-Icky" began moving out gradually. The tail has declined in use while the "legs" have become steadier to support the small body. Claws have developed as well to help it attack its prey as well as new respiratory organs. Alas the brain power of the Nematoda is much declined in Frogus-Icky. The offspring of said animal still needs water though...
Size: small
Habitat: warm, coastal
Eats: plants, small animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Darter (Wormus Procelerior)
Created by: Lord_Iggy
Ancestor: Reaper
Info: Continuing in the same directions that Reapers have been evolving for epochs, the Darters are now totally streamlined, save their deadly claws. Darters have better-developed eyes, probably the best yet in existence. This makes them deadly hunters on their own, although their aggressive tendencies with other members of their own species prevents co-operation. However, the aggression ensures that the weak do not survive, strengthening the Darter gene pool.
Size: medium-large
Habitat: ocean
Eats: animals
Energy: medium-high
Origin: Epoch 8

Frogus-Goody (Toadius-Opercullum)
Ancestor: Frogus-Icky
Info: The slow moving Frogus-Icky has grown up to become the Frogus-Goody. The webbed feet of the Frogus-Icky has given way to “feet” and its legs have gotten stronger as well. In addition, its teeth and jaws have become longer and larger, and if a tooth breaks, another will grow to replace it. This powerful bite allows the Frogus-Goody to attack tougher-shelled creatures. The reproduction of the species has also changed, allowing “internal fertilization” in which the female lays her embryos in much harder and dry-resistant barriers - primitive shelled eggs. The mother often defends the eggs until they hatch, and may even feed the young for a while until they are able to get food on their own.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: warm coastline
Eats: mostly animals, some plants
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Komodo (Ordrinchthyes)
Ancestor: Crustacean
Info: A “swim bladder” has appeared as an organ to allow the Komodo to manoeuvre itself better in water. The hind “legs” have turned to fins while the tail has increased in size. A small fin has also appeared on back of the Komodo to help it steer better. Finally, flaps of the skin have appeared near the head connected to the gills that open and close to bring water in to gain oxygen. As a result of that, the nose has lost its purpose of breathing though it still retains the purpose of smelling blood. The brain of the Crustacean continues to grow, as the Komodo now are capable of hiding among dense algae and etc to surprise its prey.
Size: medium
Habitat: ocean.
Eats: animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Giant Salamander
Created by: The Farow
Ancestor: Giant Paddleblobfish
Info: As the Giant Paddleblobfish was being out competed in the seas because of their immobility, they moved onto land to feed. The Giant Salamander hides in lakes and streams near the shore waiting to ambush unsuspecting prey. As the creature moved out onto land more it developed lungs and now has to surface for air.
Size: medium-large
Habitat: warm, coastal
Eats: animals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 5

Zerg Larvae mk2 (Zergus Core Genus)
Created by: Cleric
Ancestor: Zerg Larvae
Info: Now even better developed, it is faster and has developed a good nervous system and senses so it can find hosts more easier. While they are rumoured to be spawned from a seabed organic hatchery of sorts, if the area has an extremely small Zerg populaton they can terminate the host and use its body to produce more larvae. But it should be noted it is only used to increase the population if it is close to extermination in the given area.
Size: tiny-small
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean floor
Eats: plankton, corpses, or absorbs nutrients from host body
Energy: very low-low
Origin: Epoch 5

Zerg Manta Dray (Zergus Batoidea)
Creator: Cleric
Ancestor: Zerg Larvae
Info: This species is almost identical to earlier Zerg Larvae in the first part of its life-cycle. But after growing to maturity, the larva enters a pupal stage, and after a long gestation period it will emerge as an adult Manta Dray. The Dray has a large flat body and it has a boneless skeleton made of tough elastic substance, all which allows it to swim trough the ocean smoothly and effortlessly. It has developed heavy, rounded teeth for crushing shells and exoskeletons. The Manta Dray will attack animals with such protection, tearing a hole in the armour, and injecting its eggs into the victim. The main purpose of the adult Manta Dray is to spread eggs over a wide area to complete the life-cycle. It concentrates its efforts on achieving this, and usually does not live for very long.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: ocean
Eats: Corpses, small animals, or absorbs nutrients from host body.
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 6
Extinction: Epoch 7

Zerg Larvae mk3 (Zergus Core Genus)
Created by: Cleric
Ancestor: Zerg Larvae MkII
Info: Hosts would often die and be washed ashore by the tide before the larvae had left it. The larvae eventually evolved to survive extended periods on shore as part of their life-cycle, and to take advantage of plants and decaying matter found there. Thus the zerg larvae can now survive on both sea and land, however due to these new abilities their metabolism has increased and they must eat more to survive. This species is rapidly losing its parasitic nature to focus entirely on scavenging and eating plants.
Size: tiny-small
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean floor / warm, wet land
Eats: plants, decaying matter, or absorbs nutrients from host body
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 6

RockCrawler
Ancestor: CrunchyCrawler
Info: Smaller and less mobile than its ancestor, but has a much tougher shell, which also looks somewhat like a rock. This sometimes camouflages it from predators. Its internal organs and senses are still very primitive.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean floor
Eats: plankton, plants
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 6

TriloCrawler
Ancestor: Crawker Mk1
Info: Has developed a hard but flexible exo-skeleton. This provides some defence against predators, while still allowing the Trilocralwer to be quite mobile. It can also burrow into the seabed to hide from predators. It has basic eyesight, and an improved sense of touch and smell.
Size: tiny-small
Habitat: shallow ocean floor
Eats: plants, decaying matter
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 6

Land Snappy Crawler
Created by: Kentharu
Ancestor: Snappy Crawler
Info: The Land Snappy Crawler was one of the first creatures to move from the sea to the land, preying on the plant life found there (and occasional small animals). Its stronger legs provide it with greater agility and the ability to haul itself out of water. Its claws are also more developed.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: warm coastal waters/ warm, wet land.
Eats: plants, small animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 6

Zerg Devil Manta Dray (Zergus Batoidus Infernus)
Creator: Cleric
Ancestor: Zerg Manta Dray
Info: It has grown much larger in size and mass than its predecessor. Its adult form now survives as a full-blown predator, and has a considerably larger lifespan. It also has developed a long barbed tail with venomous spines, which can be used for defence of for attacking prey. It contains powerful toxins, which very often weakens or kills the victim. It still reproduces in the same parasitical fashion.
Size: medium-large
Habitat: ocean
Eats: corpses, animals, or absorbs nutrients from host body.
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Hunter Land Snappy Crawler
Created by: Kentharu
Ancestor: LandSnappyCrawler
Info: A growth in size was minimal in this animal, however this was made up for by the development of communication between the species, making into a pack hunter, preying on other land animals and plants. It's claws have grown in size, and now have a serrated edged, making it hard for any prey to escape once in its grip.
Size: medium
Habitat: Warm, coastal land
Eats: animals and plants
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Larvipede
Ancestor: Zerg Larvae MkIII
Info: The young of this creature are almost identical to the Zerg Larvae MkIII. But as it grows, it goes through various cocoon-like stages, where it moults its old exoskeleton and emerges with an enlarged body. Eventually it reaches its adult form, which has many extra legs and body segments. As well as its size and strength, it has also poisonous fangs, which either paralyse or cause severe discomfort. It uses these weapons to defend itself, or to actively hunt smaller animals. It is also fully adapted to land, and its body is more efficient at keeping its moisture, enabling it to live in drier conditions.
Size: medium-large
Habitat: warm land
Eats: animals and plants
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Poison Hunter Crawler
Created by: Kentharu
Ancestor: HunterSnappyCrawler
Info: The first large development was in the creatures cranial capacity, major developments in sight and the size of its head. Its claws had split into 4 now, and this vice like grip was nothing compared to the venom in its mouth, to put its prey to sleep, not paralysing it like many others. More aggressive behaviour was exhibited by this species as it began to attack prey on creatures as big and even bigger that itself. This was only possible due to the more coordinated pack work. This species is also completely land-based, though its eggs still need to develop in a lake, river or some kind of water-hole.
Size: medium
Habitat: warm land
Eats: mostly animals, and some plants
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Zerg Black Snake (Zergus Iroqoius Plisskinus)
Created by: Cleric
Ancestor: Larvipede
Info: Its legs have shrunk to enable it to squirm down into burrows of smaller animals. It had developed a complex bony skull, while the rest of its exoskeleton has become more flexible. Its senses are sharper, and its large jaw has joints to allow it to swallow much larger prey. As well as its size and strength, its fangs contain much more dangerous poisons than its predecessor. It is now fully carnivorous.
Size: medium
Habitat: warm land
Eats: animals
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Lesser Dray
Ancestor: Zerg Devil Manta Dray
Info: It has grown much smaller than its predecessor, but keeps the dangerous spines for defence against other predators. This evolution has specialised in attacking the small, hard-shelled or burrowing creatures found on the ocean floor. It still reproduces in the same parasitical fashion, by biting into its victim and injecting it with eggs.
Size: small
Habitat: ocean floor
Eats: corpses, small animals, or absorbs nutrients from host body.
Energy: low
Origin: Epoch 8

Spoiler ‘Blobby’ Branch :

Includes various evolutions of the original Blobster species that have kept the basic blob-like body, some of which have taken to the air.

Size: tiny-small
Habitat: ocean
Eats: plankton
Energy: very low
Origin: Epoch 1

Electric Blob
Created by: Dreadnaught
Ancestor: Blobster MK1
Info: This evolution of Blobster has electric stingers on its fins, which it uses to stun smaller animals (mainly Blobsters) in order to swallow them without a struggle. It also uses them to ward of larger predators. Still a primitive creature overall.
Size: small

Ancestor: Blobster Mk1
Info: The front flippers of the Bloblster evolved to become longer and more flexible, while nerve "strings" begun to appear, able to move and feel further from the animal, thought still are rather short. The mouth became smaller and now the Touchyblob is only able to eat small sea-algea by sensing it and picking it with it's longer "hands". Primitive eyes appeared above the creature to look for dangerous above.
Size: very small - small
Habitat: warm, shallow ocean
Eats: plants
Energy: very low - low
Origin: Epoch 5

Tentus Oriented (PreTenta)
Created by: erez87
Ancestor: Touchyblob

Size: small-medium
Habitat: Ocean
Eats: animals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 6

Tentus-Jelly (prejellyfish)
Created by: erez87
Ancestor: Touchyblob
Info: Its internal structure remains simple and primitive, and it actually lost much of its eyesight in order to develop its other senses, especially the sense of touch in its tentacles. It instinctively gathers in large groups, forming a large drifting net of tentacles, then sweeps through areas full of prey. The Tentus-Jelly hunts parasite species especially, and may also attack dead or dying animals in order to get at the parasites inside. Its primitive body structure allows the Tentus-Jelly to grow into numerous sizes. As long as it lives and eats it will grow larger and larger in size.
Size: tiny - large
Habitat: shallow ocean.
Eats: small animals.
Energy: Very low-low
Origin: Epoch 6

Akura
Created by: erez87
Ancestor: Touchyblob
Info: The Akura is an evolved Touchyblob that has taken into the sky. It can take trips out of the water to avoid sea predators, and to enable it to feed on land plants. At this stage, it cannot control itself very well in the air, and must remain close to water as it can easily dehydrate.
Size: Small
Habitat: warm, coastal
Eats: plants
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Tentus ReOriented
Created by: erez87
Ancestor: Tentus Oriented
Info: Its body structure continues to develop in complexity. It is more agile, has better senses, and its tentacles have a tighter grip on its prey. It has an efficient metabolism and can go for long periods without food. It has also adapted to swim at much greater depths, where it can avoid other predators and find scraps of food that most other predators can’t reach.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: ocean surface / deep ocean
Eats: animals
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Akura Intelic
Created by: erez87
Ancestor: Akura
Info: This is an evolved Akura with the ability to remain out of water for longer periods. It also has better senses and intelligence to help it avoid predators wherever possible. It has more control of itself in the air, and its tentacles are becoming more sensitive and flexible, enabling it to reach more food. It also generates foul-tasting chemicals within its body, which tends to deter predators from eating it.
Size: Small
Habitat: warm, coastal
Eats: plants
Energy: medium
Origin: Epoch 7

Spoiler ‘Floaty’ Branch :

Includes the first species to float in the air using hydrogren, and the biggest species to take to the air.

Blobvac(Blobblus Suckus)
Created by: Swissempire
Ancestor: Blobster Mk1
Info: Funky Fresh gelatinous blob, floats on surface with a small "sail" that catches the Primordial Winds. Has long "tubes" on the under belly that sucks up plankton from sea.

Habitat: ocean
Eats: plankton
Energy: very low
Origin: Epoch 5
Extinction: Epoch 7

Hindenblob(OMFGitcanfloaticus Blobbulus)
Created by: Swissempire
Ancestor: Blobvac
Info: Funky Fresh gelatinous blob, with a small "sail" that catches the Primordial Winds. Has long "tubes" on the under belly that sucks up plankton from sea. Size: small
Habitat: ocean surface
Eats: plankton
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 6

Zaphindenblob (Zapulus hidenblobbus)
Created by: Swissempire
Ancestor: Hindenblob
Info: As an extra defence, the Zaphindenblob has evolved the ability to create an electric shock from its tentacles, sometimes enough to kill a small sea animal. Also, the Zaphindenblob has begun preying on the creatures on the Crytals Reefs, using its tentacles to grab them from within the structure. It has a large appetite due to the demands of maintaining both its electric charge and its buoyancy in the air.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: warm ocean surface
Eats: plankton, small animals
Energy: high
Origin: Epoch 7

Eatemzap Floating Fortress
Created by: Swissempire
Ancestor: Zaphindenblob
Info: The Eatemzap Floating Fortress has a more complex body, capable of efficiently digesting small animals as well as plants. Its tentacles are much more efficient at grabbing prey. It still has the ability to create electric shocks, and it has a more active lifestyle, as it now travels over land as well as sea. As a result, it has even higher energy demands than its ancestor.
Size: medium-large
Habitat: warm ocean / coastal
Eats: plants, small animals
Energy: very high
Origin: Epoch 8

Poison Gasblob
Ancestor: Hindenblob
Info: This evolution has taken a different path, defending itself by chemical rather than electrical means, and has a lower metabolism. Its thin skin is loaded with poisons, which cause severe illness if not death to any predator than bites into it. It has brightly coloured markings to distinguish it from other floating species, and remind predators of its poisonous nature. It has also evolved small ‘wings’ to help it manoeuvre, which can also act as sails. This helps it to reach new plankton blooms.
Size: small-medium
Habitat: warm ocean surface
Eats: plankton, plants
Energy: low-medium
Origin: Epoch 8

Reserved for possible future use…

For now, this post will contain a picture of two cats in a bathroom sink:
Spoiler :

way_cute.jpg

OK, to make a new evolution of an existing plant/animal, please follow these three rules:

1, Can’t evolve things from extinct species…
2, Can’t evolve things from a species that hasn’t been officially added to the stats yet...
3, Can’t make too big a leap of evolution at once (like fish to mouse, without at least one amphibian inbetween)…

To make a brand new species unrelated to anything else, it must be something pretty simple (like a jellyfish, or something like algae).

…

Feel free to post any kind of info/description/picture to describe the thingy. If anyone wants to post exact stats, these are:

Ancestor: What you evolved it from, if anything
Info: brief description please…
Size: tiny – very small - small – medium – large – very large
Habitat: roughly where in the world it will try to live (could be everywhere)
Eats: rough description - I don’t want to get specific about different species
Energy: this is both how much it needs to survive (appetite/metabolism), as well as how much a predator would get from eating it.
Population: I’ll do this bit…
Origin: I’ll do this bit – the update it appeared on (first update will be epoch 4)

I may edit the stats a bit if I think its unrealistic. Ill also make a little picture/icon for each new species in the same style as the others.

...

Ok, please do post anything now….

Flapperworm (Wormus Flappydactylus)- Yes, I know that the scientific name is ridiculous. But this is just for fun, right?
