I never trust Game, they have a habit of giving optimistic release dates to secure pre-orders (which is fine normally as they are of average price, excepts I can get games cheaper where I work - staff discount). That said, I hope the are correct in this instance, in which case:
I agree. I would rather them make it tight and right than rushing it out. However, I am chomping at the bit to play it, so sooner is better than later for my own selfish devices.
I can't see any game shop saying its coming out on 21st june and taking orders for it then it not coming out for another month they would have alot of p*ssed of customers going in for there game and being told come back next month. unless they wanted to go out of business that is. or the company is called fraxis (get it out before xmas and finish it 4 months later)
Actually it is not at all optimistic... remember civ is made in the US which means that 21/06/2006 means
in year 2006
the sixth day
of the Twenty-first month
Which quite simply means it wil never come out... ever (the release date does not exist)
or they could have made a mistype and it could be 12/06/2006 (6th of December.... which seems realistic)

Yeah but I'm british and we put the date the right way round and in order dd/mm/yyyy the british civilization have been writing dates alot longer than the USA.

It happens all the time. They do it in order to gain as many pre-orders as possible. All stores do this, its not just Game. Gameplay, Play, Gamestation and Amazon, they do it as well, and quite often, they have a wild stab in the dark, getting release dates wrong by months.
I cant see this being the case with Warlords though as it has been said that a summer release date was the plan. Lets just hope that game are right
yep i would only trust firaxis for the release date but even these can be delayed or changed but July 25th sounds about right give or take a week or so.
I searched for it on Amazon.co.uk and they have the product listed twice. once for £16.99 and once for £19.99. Crazy!!!!!!
Cheapest i found so far was on www.dvd.co.uk for £15.99 free postage.
HMV.co.uk is still trying to charge £34.99 and i always thought their pre release prices were reasonable. Perhaps a mistake?
Play.com has for release on 7/7/2006, £17.99. Amazon.com has it for 24/7/2006, $29.99; UK Amazon has it for 28/7/2006, £19.99. I don't buy from GAME anymore, too expensive. So take your pick but I would think it is going to be towards the end of July at the earliest. As Bongo-Bongo mentioned they usually put these 'early' release dates on to get in pre-orders only for then for you to check back a week before the release date and find it has been put back another 4 weeks...
If it was 7/7/2006, then I would say it's been rushed out before everyone loses interest in the game. In any case, I'm not all that interested in it.
I got Civ4 the day it came out in England for £17.99 from play.co.uk. They are usualy the cheapest as the are based in jersey and don't need to pay VAT
The date that most of the retailers in the US are saying it ships (and it is close enough that it might be believable) is July 25, 2006 (btw, this written contention is why the US would list the date as 7/25/06). Since it is being made in the US, I think it is safe to assume that it will appear in North American stores first.
