Here's my second LOTR map, its a map of Beleriand, the pre-Middle-Earth of the Silmarillion.

Enjoy. :)

(NOTE: The map may seem a little stretched in the editor, but that's normal. If you open up the Mesoamerica Conquest and then open up this you can see it less stretched and better [like the one below]. :D )

You forgot putting on sea again:p

AAARRRGGGH! I have a problem. :twitch:

I'll upload the fixed version.

Lord Malbeth, I love the map but I have a question about the Middleearth map. It opens with no problem in the editor, but crashes the Civ3Complete program on both of my Macs, and gives me an error message on my son's Dell laptop. Do you have to have that graphics package loaded to run the map?

It works fine for me. I requires no terrain modpacks. Weird. I'll toy around with it a little.

Just curious, but is anyone working on a Silmarillion scenario out there? Loved the book, and it seemed - even more than LOTR - to be absolutely FULL of war! With all the fantasy units out there now, I'm surprised no one has done a mod of this yet ...

Should I ever get my own personal years-in-the-making mod done, this might be a future project.

I'm sorta making one. It still has A LOT of bugs in it.

I actually made a Beleriand Map half a year ago.
It's a lot smaller though, it's made for a small one-era MP alliance vs. AI scenario that I might make some time in the future. And I see that you are working on a scenario too, Lord Malbeth. Maybe we could exchange some ideas?

I also have a few comments about your map. It's good, but I think some changes could be considered. You could also look at my map for inspiration if you want to.
- The first thing that I noticed was that Taur-nu-fuin shouldn't just be a lot of mountains. There's forests and hills
- Ered Lómin are very close to the sea, leaving almost no space for Lammoth.
- the rivers near Lake Mithrim and Eithel Sirion could use some reworking.
- Maybe some marshes in Nevrast?
- Nevrast is so big that it makes it impossible for ships to sail past it. Is this intended to make it impossible for Morgoth to attack from the sea or is it a mistake?
- I think there is too much forests and hills in Falas.
- Amon Rûdh and Amen Obel are missing.
- Most of the rivers in Doriath are missing.
- The hills and rivers south of Lothlann seem strange. The pass of Aglon is missing.
- The only possible way to cross Ered Luin is placed to north of the river Askar where Belegost is. But shouldn't it be further to the south where Nogrod is?
- The lower parts of Ossiriand seem very small. I think the south of Ered Luin should be moved a few squares to the east.
Apart from these issues, the map looks great.

Thanks for your suggestions! Your map was actually one of the inspirations for mine.

- The first thing that I noticed was that Taur-nu-fuin shouldn't just be a lot of mountains. There's forests and hills

This is supposed to represent the impossible climbing of the mts, but I understand

- Ered Lómin are very close to the sea, leaving almost no space for Lammoth.
- the rivers near Lake Mithrim and Eithel Sirion could use some reworking.
- Maybe some marshes in Nevrast?

Some errors, sorry.

- Nevrast is so big that it makes it impossible for ships to sail past it. Is this intended to make it impossible for Morgoth to attack from the sea or is it a mistake?

Intended

- I think there is too much forests and hills in Falas.
- Amon Rûdh and Amen Obel are missing.
- Most of the rivers in Doriath are missing.

Errors, sorry.

- The hills and rivers south of Lothlann seem strange.

I understand what your saying, but I'm keeping them like that, because the rivers in civ3 work funny.

- The pass of Aglon is missing.

Small Error.

- The only possible way to cross Ered Luin is placed to north of the river Askar where Belegost is. But shouldn't it be further to the south where Nogrod is?

This was semi-intended.

- The lower parts of Ossiriand seem very small. I think the south of Ered Luin should be moved a few squares to the east.

I'll try to fix this.

Thanks for your suggestions! :)

Oops! I think I made a mistake. On my map mountains are impassable so for some reason I automatically assumed that they were also impassable on your map - without even noticing mysef that I had assumed that. So when I saw all those mountains I thought that it would be completely impossible to cross them. But it's not. It's just very difficult... the human mind does some strange things sometimes. Sorry about that

That's OK. I originally was going to have them impassable, but I decided to leave the rules unchanged.
