With the latest update we are also releasing the lastest version of the HOF Mod. V1.61.004 will be the only accepted Mod as of June 25, 2006.

Release Notes

Upgrade from V1.61.003 to V1.61.004

Changes:

  • Addition of Reminder mod.
  • Addition of automatic start file saving.
  • New startup check to ensure CRCs are correct.
  • Startup checks now also reported after regenerating the map.

[Edit]If you are geting the "specified module could not be found" error check this thread.[/Edit]

Any help please?

I just did a fresh install of Civ and then the new HOF mod, and finally Map Finder.
Everything default paths.

So I'm trying to run the new Map Finder rule builder, and keep getting this

error.jpg

EDIT: With Alt-M, mapfinder will start running in Civ. But I can't set the rules, or view a report.

Moderator Action: Post moved to correct thread.

EDIT: The Map Finder Readme sent me there. ;)

Well the good news is that it has nothing to do with Civ4 or the HOF Mod if you only get the error running the VB program. My gut feeling is it had a problem installing one of the OCX file or the VB runtime.

Try downloading and installing this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...61-7A9C-43E7-9117-F673077FFB3C&displaylang=en

BTW, What OS are you using? If that doesn't work, could you send the "ST6UNST.LOG" to me at hof@civfanatics.net? Edit: It's in the Civ4_Map_Finder folder.

Did I miss what folder the MapFinder saves the game in?

I have looked through my normal save file and expanded the other files looking for the 6 generated maps I saw it make before I Alt-X (stopped) it, but can't find them. :(

It saves to a folder under the Map Finder install directory: "C:\Program Files\Civ4_Map_Finder\Saves" unless you installed it somewhere else.

I'm playing with .004, but I noticed the list of opponents on the main interface window is gone. Did I just accidentally close that window or something? or do I need to turn it on somehow?

We added toogles for grid, score, etc. to the Mod in .003. I guess they must be off in this version for some reason. It is controlled by one of the four button above the mini-map. You can go to the Game Options - HOF3 tab and set it to default to "on" again.

I have the same error message as Ljdjr.

Mailed the info and .LOG file to you.

Somehow sending the mail to yourname at hof.civfanatics.com did not work ? But when i changed it to hof.civfanatics.net , sending the mail worked

/edit: forgot to say that installing the Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe) did not resolve the issue. I think i had it installed already. OS - XP Pro SP2

I messed up the e-mail address. It's hof@civfanatics.net. So far we haven't been able to figure out what's different about Ljdjr's install. Any new clues would be appreciated. What os are you using? Could you check you Event log to see if there is any additional information about the error?

I got the e-mail. Other than some messages about the install being the D: drive it looks like it installed and registered everything okay. Are you using a language localization other than english?

Were you referring to the ST6UNST.LOG here, or some other log file ? If so, please instruct how to locate such log

I wasn't thinking about that. I saw a reference on MS KB about non-english localizations and redist.

I was talking about the ST6UNST.LOG. Was -"%"?%711389 really the error msg? Windows is being it's regular helpful self.

Are you running any special virus protection/firewall? I assume you have admin rights. Your message is slightly different in that it says it can't load the specified module. Any idea what different about your install?

Ah, my email program must have messed up the error msg somehow  Here's what the message looks like
my.php
(bad quality, quickly saved with ms paint  )

Yes admin rights. And no, no special fw/virus prot. XP own fw disabled, Zonealarm instead and Avast antivirus. Does not help disabling those and trying to run map finder.

Either that or try adding the program to ZA's allowed application list. Have you check ZA log? It could be blocking it.

Nope, its not blocking any attemps in/out by civ4 or map finder. Civ4 has full internet access anyways. And i'm unsure why map finder would like to contact the internet before finding maps ? Anyway it wont start even ZA & avast both totally disabled, so ZA is propably not the issue.

So far tried:

Unistalled Civ4 & map finder. Deleted the folders. Removed all things related to CIV & map finder from registry.

Reinstalled Civ4, 1.61 patch and 1.61.004 hof mod + the map finder. Still same error message :(

Well, gotta manually regenerate maps

I might get my laptop from work (even currently on my summer holiday :p ) later this week and try if the map finder works on it.

I'd like to thank Denniz for all his behind the scenes help getting Map Finder to run.

What finally did it for me was reinstalling MSOffice (I recently reinstalled Windows and never got around to installing Office again).

So... :thanx:

Do you have MS office installed? The is either a dependency that the install wizard missed or some conflict that the office install cleans up.

Did you try downloading and installing the VB runtime ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en)?

If that didn't work you could try this: http://www.vladd44.com/other/error.php.

If you don't have office, it might be worth trying to install the excel viewer.

Does anyone who doesn't have Office or Excel installed work?
