Welcome to my version of The Hero Within, as this nes was originally done by Conehead, here. I have his permission, so its all good :)

Background Story​

In the past decade, the world has been through much suffering. Blitzman, after rampaging through Europe had been halted and driven back to Berlin. Europe is in ruins, as the attacks of Germany and Adolf Hitler had crumbled the once great cities of Europe. In Yalta, the great leaders of the world met to decide the future, Truman and Captain America representing the USA, Churchill and Union Jack representing the UK, and Stalin and Comrade Red representing the USSR. This fate would decide the future of the world, as Europe is divided into Spheres of Influence. These heroes returned to their respective countries with glory, for Captain America, Union Jack, and Comrade Red had helped defeat Blitzman and liberate Europe. These heroes were real heroes, superheroes. A new threat looms over the world, as the world is split into 2 camps. Now the true heroes must emerge, will you led your hero and your followers to save the world and bring peace, or will you attempt to take it over? Will you follow the orders of your nation you are loyal to, even though the orders may not be the right thing to do, or will you defy your leaders to try to prevent a nuclear holocaust? The world now needs a hero, will you be one?

Player Heroes​

You can only be the superheroes or villains. You cannot control any nations unless you overthrow the government and take it over, but it will be very difficult as you have to taken the entire army of the nation.

NPC​

All nations and a select couple superheroes or villains that I have plans for.

Organization​

You control a superhero/villain and its organization. Your organization is your hero’s life. It has a secret HQ, which will be secret, so I will PM you the location or you PM me it. If you loose your HQ, you lose everything. Your HQ has to be on earth until I say so, and if you are aligned to a bloc, it has to be in your bloc’s territory or a neutral nation’s territory. No American bases in Russia. You can upgrade your base, but more on that later.

Economy​

There will be no economy levels, but you have funds. These are represented in WC, (world currency). You need funds to do anything but how do you get funds you ask. Well basically anyway that is logical. Every turn you get a certain number of funds added to your stockpile from supporters and stuff, but you can get funds other ways. If you are a good guy, you can get them from rewards, gifts, loans, etc. If you are evil it is more fun, go rob banks, threaten third world countries, sell stuff on the Black Market (more on that later). You need funds for your organization, supplies, your henchmen, missions, and evil plots. At the beginning you will have a normal job, that you will get some money for. Kind of like a secret Identity, but this will only last so long.

Military​

You will not have a military per se, you will have your henchmen which you hire, arm, and train. It costs funds to do this. Your superhero can not do everything alone, you need people to man your base and carry out missions. As time goes on you can get better weapons, vehicles, evil robots, nukes, anything you can think of. Price list is down below.

Headquarters

Your top secret Headquarter, can be located anywhere, just keep it secret because it is everything to you. You can upgrade it with pretty much anything you want, underground bunkers, anti aircraft batteries, missile silos, etc. These all cost funds. But hold your horses, did you think you will get a cool base already? Haha, that’s a good one. Everyone starts out in their basement, you must earn your HQ and respect.

Black market​

There is a black market, controlled by me, if you want to try to purchase something, PM me and I will tell you the price. But be warned, if you order a nuke, you may get bomb casing full of old pinball machine parts. You will not always get what you paid for, but there are many valuable things on the market.

Evil Plots​

So now that you got your base, henchmen and shiny new nuke, what are you going to do evil villain? Hmm, I’ll take over the world. Isn’t that everyone’s goal. So you have this grand scheme in your mind, why you have to plan it. It takes funds and good planning to detonate that nuke under Paris. All schemes have to be planned and take time to pull them off, for training and stuff. How big it is, the longer and more costly it will be. This will be secret, PM me if you want to start to plan a scheme. Minor operations do not need real planning and can be usually pulled off the turn it is ordered, and most require no funds. Mugging people or robbing the local 7-11 cost nothing even robbing the bank costs nothing, anything higher than that will cost something.

Intelligence

So now you ask, how will you stop Mr. Villain from sinking Bermuda into the sea, why you spy of course. This can also be used to find other details about the enemy or even your own friends. Put funds into spying and every turn you will get a PM of info, some may be true, some may be false. But it can be valuable and maybe help you save the world. Villains can do the same thing to the good guys.

Research​

Put funds into research to build to invent your super robot of doom with the lazar beam and a build in microwave to make that popcorn when you are razing Mexico. Kind of self explanatory.

SUPERHERO LEVELS:

Every once in a while I’ll determine you deserve a “level up.” This is based upon things like successful villain plots, or defeating a villain. Something worthy. When you level up you’ll be able to upgrade 3 stats(see below). These are the following levels.

4) Well-Known Hero/Villain

SUPERHERO/VILLAIN ABILITIES: (thanks to Warman)

As your superhero begins to fight crime, or start it he/she will gain experience in their actions. As a result they’ll be able to gain many new abilities. You will start with 1 power of your choosing. You may only pick 3 abilities each time you level up out of a total of 24 abilities. As a result you’ll only have 1/2 of the total abilities, limiting yourself to a specialty or a balanced field. There are 6 abilities in 4 different fields each.

(You’ll need the one before you get to the next level. Everyone automatically starts with a “0" in every power)

Strength:
0) Muscular Person: Can lift 250 lbs
1) Extreme-Human Strength: Can lift 500 lbs
2) Super-Human Strength: Can lift 1000 lbs
3) Super Strength: Can lift 2000 lbs
4) Incredible Strength: Can lift 5,000 lbs
5)Unbelievable Strength: Can lift 10,000 lbs
6) “The Hulk”: Can lift 30,000 lbs

Speed/Agility:
0) Runner: Run 15 mph
1) World-Class Runner: Run 25 mph
2) Cheetah: Can run 40 mph

5) Unbelievable Speed: Can run 150 mph

0) Determined: You’ll be able to take some physical blows, but not guns.
1) Bear: Need a few good shots
2) Elephant: Need a lot of firepower
3) Bullet-Proof: Most small arms ineffective
4) Blast-proof: Immune to fire and small explosions now, eh?
5) NBC: Radiation? Viruses? Chemicals? No problem.
6) “Superman”: Nearly indestructible

Flight: I can fly like an eagle

Laser Eyes: Cool, laser eyes
1) Short Range: Range of 20 feet.
2) Long range: Range of 100 feet and causes the target to burst into flames.
3) Laser of doom: Range of 300 feet and causes the target to explode

Telekinesis: Control things with your MIND!
1) Weak mind: Can lift up objects of up to 300 pounds.
2) Strong mind: Can lift up objects of up to 1000 pounds.
3) Uber mind: can lift up objects of up to 5000 pounds

Regeneration/Healer: be able to revive your wounds faster, along with heal your allies.
1) Minor Healer: Heal minor injuries
2) Major Healer: Regenerate Limbs
3) Jesus: Bring back the dead

Fire Generation
1) Lighter: Shoot small fire balls out of hands.
2) Torch: Shoot large fire balls out of hands and small streams of fire of up to 20 feet range.
3) Flamethrower: Shoot Large fire streams out of hands and can cover body with flames

Ice Breath
1) Frost: Can freeze objects for a short period of time.
2) Ice: Can freeze people and most objects, can freeze small flames, and fire streams of ice out of your hands.
3) Blizzard: Can freeze objects up to Absolute Zero, can freeze fire and anything that gets in your way.

Electricity
1)Spark: Generates minor bolts of electricity, strong enough to stun people.
2)Blot: Generates major bolts of electricity shoots them out of your hands, strong enough to kill people.
3)Lightening: Generates Lightening bolt from the sky, can generate very powerful electrice bolts from hands, hitting multiple starts

Weather
1)Minor Nature Controller: Can call up rain, moderate winds, light hail and moderate snow.
2) Major Nature Controller: Can call up heavy rain, Heavy winds, Heavy snow, moderate hail
3) Freak of Nature: Blizzards, thunder storms, tornados, Bolts of lightening, heavy hail

Invisibility
Dirty Glass: A little transparent, good for dark locations
Crystal Clear: Transparent, but some angles make you visible
Air: Perfectly invisible.

Stretch:
Armstrong: Sharp increase in reach.
Contortionist: Make simple shapes with your body
Clay: Mold yourself into nearly any form.

Telepathy:
Mind Reader: Read people's thought
Mind Trick: Wave your hand and make the weak minded do something
Mind Control: Control several people with your mind.

Terraform:
Ivy: Can control plants; plant growth
Shake: Can cause small shaking in the ground
Earthquake: Can cause small earthquakes.

Animals:
Zookeeper: Can get small animals to help you
Herder: Can control groups of animals
Gaia: Can fuse with an animal while controlling others.

Force Field
Shield: Can create a personal shield for a short period of time
Wall: Can create a protective bubble over a short range
Barrier: Strong protective bubble over a larger area.

Poison:
Cough: Create a teargas cloud
Hack: Create a mild poisonous gas cloud
Choke: Create a highly deadly poison gas cloud

Description: Nick Castle was always a gambler. That's why he lived in Vegas after his stint in the war, even though in this day and age it was kind of a crappy and dusty little town. When the mob came to town, he was in heaven at the poker tables and roulette wheels. His luck varied, but one day it got really bad; the mob came to collect. Needless to say, through some luck, he managed to put both Enforcers down permanently. It was here he first discovered his ability to heal himself, having taken quite a beating in the scuffle. Now, as a man wanted by both the police and the Mafia, he finds himself in a tricky spot. The first blow has already been struck, and for Nick "Blackjack" Castle it's time for a private war of his own...

To this end, he has collected a handful of other people down on their luck, of various backgrounds (and hunted by either the police, the mob, or both) to aide him.

Description: At Princeton there is a project known as the Global Consciousness Project, or EGG. But there is a shadowy side to this project. The original plan had been to inject random Teenagers, right befroe puberty, with the substance EGG. But when the board found out about this, they shut down that part of the project. Only 1 boy was injected, and the records of who it was were lost. Only the Mad Scientist knew who it was, and he visited the boy, Chip Sinton was his given name. The boy was 15 and was experience Telekinetic Side Effects. The MS was pleased, but Chip was not. In a fit of rage, he strangled the MS with his telekentic powers. He was ashamed, and rode away on his bike. His parents were sent to jail for the murder of the Professor, and Chip went into hiding, taking the name he was given by the MS.... SEGG

The Last Paladin indeed is. Once, he was one of the few upper hierarchs of an ancient secret reactionary Society of Order, but it was eliminated during the 20th century, the last blow having come in the last days of WWII. Only the Last Paladin survived, along with a few novices of the Society who had succesfully hid him from pursuit in Andorra. Now alone, the Paladin had to sit low and lick his wounds while the remnants of the old world that he had sought to preserve were being washed away. Yet the inactivity tired him. One day he and his followers disappeared from Andorra, only to reemerge later in Buenos Aires, where, they felt, the tide of progress, liberalism and socialism could still be stemmed...

Description: Muslim fanatic that fought for the Nejd forces in WWI. His goal was to create a new unified, Muslim Kingdom lead by the Arabs. This dream was crushed and Karem left Saudi Arabia and went to hide in the deserts. During the Libyan Campaign, Karem discovered his ability to produce fire and aided the Germans against the hated British by doing light skirmishes. However, that was another war lost. Now there is word of Zionism and Karem and his followers are in Jerusalem: to stop Zionism before it starts.

Description:

The Messiah started as the protégé of the late Fred Waldron Phelps, founder and leader of the Westboro Baptist Church. Phelps used Smith’s powers claiming that he was the messiah and that Armageddon was nearing, however still only 10 out of the 100 members of his church were not directly liked to him or his family by blood ties, in an attempt to attacks more followers he and all his followers were told to swallow a poisonous substance and that the Messiah would resurrect them as pure people free from sin, this went horribly wrong and “The Messiah” was only to save 5 of the 100 WBC Followers, sadly the Phelps and his 90 family members did not make it. In the aftermath of the mass suicide “the Messiah” announced that Fred Waldron Phelps and all the deceased WBC were now in hell for having commited suicide, the WBC name shall never be spoken again.

Description: The Nazis killed his family, destroyed his home, and forced him to suffer through 3 years of starvation and torture in a concentration camp. And all for being Jewish. But instead of destroying his body, this suffering only strengthened him. After the infamous Dr. Mengele performed experiments on his body, he discovered the ability to fly. He now travels to Israel to accomplish the main goal of his life: The creation of a Jewish homeland, where all Jews can live in freedom and peace...and maybe torch some Muslims along the way.

Description:

Rich playboy Flavio Ritmo one day discovered in his basement something extraordinary. It was a ancient suit of armor, one used by Roman soldiers fro mthe 1st century. He dug it out and for kicks decided to put it on. When he did however he was no longer Flavio, but was tranformed into the superhero The Legionary. The Shield seemed to be able to create a small bubble of protection around him. The armor so far has given him above normal attributes. The sword has remained a normal sword, but Flavio knows it too must hold some power. Flavio knows the suit must have been used by the Romans, but it's history still remains somehwat of a mystery. Flavio has decided he'll use his suit for good...for now at least.

Description:Cool guy,literally,in his mid 20's.Usually just messes with helpless people by doing things like frezzing the ground infront of moving cars so they crash.Freezing crops and killing them so a poor farmer has no harvest for money.But resently he has changed into a more seirous villian to say.Robbing a local bank by freezing and breaking the safes door with the help of his freinds and takening all the cash.He beat the bank manager to death with a baseball bat that he had temporally frozen to add to the damage.Now he has gone home with his friends who are all juvinile delenquints and have formed a gang under his control.They hide out in a old abandoned house somewhere in inner city Atlanta.He plans to use the money he stole to buy a new rad car and some candy.

Description: Nick Castle was always a gambler. That's why he lived in Vegas after his stint in the war, even though in this day and age it was kind of a crappy and dusty little town. When the mob came to town, he was in heaven at the poker tables and roulette wheels. His luck varied, but one day it got really bad; the mob came to collect. Needless to say, through some luck, he managed to put both Enforcers down permanently. It was here he first discovered his ability to heal himself, having taken quite a beating in the scuffle. Now, as a man wanted by both the police and the Mafia, he finds himself in a tricky spot. The first blow has already been struck, and for Nick "Blackjack" Castle it's time for a private war of his own...

To this end, he has collected a handful of other people down on their luck, of various backgrounds (and hunted by either the police, the mob, or both) to aide him.

Emperor Norton has an obvious goal; Conquer the United States and Mexico. Being mostly insane everything changed the day he sold his body to science and found himself with his new superpowers. His hobo henchmen will follow him willingly, knowing well that any harm can be healed by the powers of Eris, and someday Norton even hopes to conquer the entire world...

Emperor Norton is a devout follower of Discordianism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discordianism), he claims his powers were given to him by the godess eris to advance the cause of his religion, which he has assumed papal authority of.

His followers are Legionarres of Discordianism, part of the Legion of Dynamic Discord. He even posses an original page 00019 of the Principia Disordica, and quests to retreive all original pages of the holy text.

Description: On of the few Bajans to go fight in WW2 and even fewer to fight in Japan, The Moose, as he is known to his foes, was caught in the nuclear blast in Hiroshima, he was transformed into a highly senstitive and spasmatic superhero. No one knows who he really is, and he has yet to prove whether he is good or bad, but without a doubt, he is good (yes that makes sense). He is a hero among all hero's and among all hero's he is very very wierd. GO MOOSE!
 
Austin, Texas.

Around three pm.

Ali's Quickmart, 3214 Beacon rd.

The burstling convience store was perched in the spotlight. Ever since they had became the only ones to "officially" carry a wide selection of vodkas in the city, the store was the busiest in the drunken city.

If you think Ali's looked like any ordinary liqour store from the outside, then you'd probably be right. The store was just a brick-bare building with a flashing red sign that emblazoned Ali above the store. Two metal-bar-clad windows gazed out from the wall, and from a viewpoint one could see people bustling around in the tiny store. A large parking lot had been built recently to house all the business that flowed into the store.

In the corner of the parking lot, underneath a large palm tree, sat a lone figure on a really old motercycle. The figure sat blanketed by shadows, slowly figuring out a plan. Slow, lazy wasps of smoke came from out of the shadows and rose into the sky as the plan slowly formed............

"Thank you, come again!" Ali chirrped happily from behind the counter. The last customer was the typical redneck: forty bottles of booze and a two-week tan. She strolled eargly out the door, pushing a large buggy she had brought with her.

"Thangs lookin good ta-day?" The next customer, a fat oversized man with a beer belly the size of texas and a large trunkers hat plopped on top of his baulding head, asked with a heavy southenr accent.

"Kind of slow in the morning. But we just met our daily goal from Annie-May." Ali says with a broad smile on his face. The middle-aged Indian man with a large white turban wrapped around his head walked back to get Billy-Jo's Jack Daniel's Whiskey form behind the counter. He walked back and plopped four of the bottles down. "Thank you and come again!" Ali called out as Billy-Jo paid for his whiskey.

The next customer was unusual. He had long blond hair, wore loose robes of fascinating multicolored cloths, and had no shoes on. On first sight you might have thought he was a hippie. On a second sight you would know he was a hippie. "Can I help you?" Ali asked, shifting nervously on his feet. Ali, like any other good American, was afraid of Hippies.

"Of course good brother. I'd like two cases of your best Absolut, if you don't mind brother." The hippie said while giving a peace sign. Ali walked back to grab the vodkas off the shelf and hopefully get the hippie out of the store as soon as possible. "Oh yeah, and if ya don't mind brother, how about the contents of your totally spaced out register?" The hippie asked smiling, raising a gun and handing a bag to Ali.

"Holy cow forbid.I knew you were one of those evil hiipies as soon as you walked in." Ali groaned, beginning to empty the register into the bag. "Shame on you! Shame!" Ali said while handing the bag over, stuffed full with a day's sales of cash.

"Peace out dude! Totally groovy! And all that schazz." The Hippie said, typically sterotyped after all. He turned around and began to walk out the door before he was stopped by another person. Average height, slim build, and short buzzed brown hair. Despite the scorching hot day it was outside, the guy was wearing dark jean pants along with a white t-shirt and a black jean jacket. "Excuse you, you're like totally in my way." The hippie complained, like all hippies truly do. "So if you don't mind, like totally just step to the side." He siad while raising the gun.

In a quick, precise, and smooth movement the other guy raises his hand, knocks the gun out of the Hippies hand, and moves his other hand level with the Hippie's head. In his hand lays yet another gun,resting a mere millimeter from the Hippie's head. "i think that bag's mine." The man said cooly.

"totally outragous dude! Like far out!" The Hippie groans while forking the bag over.

"Thanks." The man says before knocking the Hippie out with a quick blow to the head from the barrell of the gun. He then turns to Ali and says: "Dirty Hippies." He then turns around and strolls out the liqiour store and across the parking lot to the resting motercycle. He , with the grace of so many bad guys from the fifties, smoothly jumps ontop the motercycle and juts the key into the ignition. He turns the key.

"......Brhmp.......Brhmp". The motercycle doesn't start. "Shat!" he exclaims, getting off the motercycle. With a sigh he begins to push the broken down piece of junk away from the sotre and into the setting sun.

Description: Comrade Huricane, known in his former life as Ernesto Gonzalez, was trained by the Maoist insurgents in China, fighting alongside the Communists in the Chinese Revolution. It was during the Long March that Comrade Huricane discovered his powers of weather control, assisting the Chinese. Now, Comrade Huricane as returned home to Cuba by way of Mexico aboard the Granma. Sent ahead t scout aboard a fishing boat, he was blown askew landing in a beach not too far from Havana. He has recently re-established links with the escopeteros, becoming an agent for the Communist Revolution in Havana where, alongside his agents, he is working to further the world-wide workers' revolution.
