The second Pirates of the Caribbean hits in just a few weeks (my prediction - #1 movie of the year and an opening weekend that could take down Cameron’s Aquaman), and that will be followed next year by the third film, which was shot more or less simultaneously. Will that be the final voyage of the Black Pearl? Possibly not, says Johnny Depp.

Talking to Newsweek, Depp says that he likes Captain Jack Sparrow so much he would do three more films even: "He's a blast to play, I'll be in a deep, dark depression saying goodbye to him. I'll keep the costume and just prance around the house, entertain the kids. Maybe 'Pirates 4, 5 and 6'. If they had a good script, why not? I mean, at a certain point, the madness must stop, but for the moment, I can't say that he's done".

That’s not just idle talk, kids. Someone close to CHUD.com has read the script for Pirates 3, and the shocking ending of that picture will send audiences out of the theater DEMANDING a part 4. Assuming that the ending that our spy read remains in the film, Pirates 3 will finish up on such a ballsy note that you can’t help but think that maybe not all franchise pictures are a bad idea.

Woah! Are they trying to spam theaters with sequels. The only movie series that should have 6 movies is Star Wars, not a series about Pirates. But if the movies are good, more power to Johnny.

There are only three Star Wars movies. :p

Most likely subsequent movie's plots, etc, will suck. That's the way it often is with sequel (think Matrix)

And the latest three star wars movies also are a good example of sequels gone wrong. (more or less, subject to opinion).

Fine, I guess that I agree with you: the last three movies were disgraceful.

@Princescamp- I'm 100% sure that they will lose every bit of charm that the original had.

1 sequel is enough for a good movie. 2 is pushing it. And 3 sequels are just milking a franchise.

Yeah, but Police Academy managed to keep an outstanding level of quality through all the sequels :mischief:
Definitely, pure quality crap all throughout. :mischief:

Six Pirates of the Carribean movies?! Now that's just wrong. I was worried that one sequal would ruin it; five most certainly will. I am disinclined to acquiesce to their request.

i dont mind cheesy show, coz mostly i watch them in DVD/HBO than in cinemas. but if they want to keep churning out sequal, then there must be at least some innovative breakthru either in cinematography, storyline, gratuitous *cough scene, nicer lead actress. well, there must be something to keep us interested :D

maybe Pirate of the carribean goes Norway :D

I actually don't think I'd mind, so long as they don't revert to childish straight-to-DVD releases. Of course, if they do that, they'll lose Depp and Knightly anyway :p

Plus it preps the world from some sweet Pirate MMORPGs. Can't wait for a good one of those. After playing Pirates!, it took me months to think about anything else.

Howsabout THIS:

Captai Jack Sparrow finds himslef being followed by a fleet of ships manned by Marquis Montalbon. Jack is nearly caught, but then he swerves on his side and commences an epic 20-minute ship battle. Meanwhile, back in the Dutch colony of...

MAN I could have a lot of fun with this! :D

I think 6 is stretching it. There's only so much you can do with pirates before it become boring and repetitive.

I hope I'm not the only one who thinks Episodes I, II, and III were horrible. So horrible I wanted to vomit because I pissed away 9 hours of my life I coulda been ranting on about stupid stuff on an internet forum.

John Wayne made the same western thirty times. Worked for him.

If we're doing nautical moviers what we really need is a Master and Commander sequel.

Bright day

Man and I though Rocky should've stopped at 4...

Oh well as long as there's substance to it, not a "Hey look we managed to get all the original actors back together" moment with a simple plot and little depth.

While many sequels are bad, and get worse with each further one, there ARE exceptions; a very few even got better with the sequels.

Examples:
Lethal Weapon 1-4 (IMO, each one better than the last)
Back to the Future 1-3
Die Hard 1-3
Indiana Jones 1-3
Terminator 2 (3 sucked)

All gems I would miss....

YAAAARR! Me likes the Pirates of the Carribean!
