In spirit with the holiday, I've decided to give this variant an American theme.

Leader: Roosevelt or Washington (TBD)
Map: Great Plains
Difficulty: Monarch
Speed: Normal
Variant: We must, at all times, run the most expensive civics available to us.
Sub-Variant: Victory must be attained via Diplomacy (this may or may not be enforced; Vassalage and the choice of Theocracy or Organized Religion are two of the civics we must run, so to not make use of them might be a bit extreme).

What can be said about the power of organization? It certainly can work wonders in improving productivity. However, most of us are aware of the rampant disorganization present within most organizations, in particular a government. Without bringing this to a political level, it is enough to say that $90 Hammers and $300 toilet seats are a bane of government spending.

This initial variant is more inclined to show the power of Organization by capitalizing on it. To that end, a Organized leader will be selected, in the hopes that we can overcome what can only be viewed as frivolous spending.

If we can find success, or if a more humorous approach is needed, a sequel SG entitled The Dysfunction of Organization will be started, utilizing a non-Organized leader under the same variant rules.

Ooh, great plains. Fun for barbs.

Sign me up please, if you'll have me that is.

EDIT: May I suggest we go for a financial leader? I never play America so I can't remember if either of the two are Org/Fin, but the extra commerce would certainly be helpful while running the most expensive civics.

I will be lurking here. Just starting on Monarch but this variant sounds really fun.

Quick question, but how much experience do each of you have with Monarch?

I am playing two Monarch SG's ATM, one of them SGOTM. The SGOTM is not going to smooth, we have some probs with getting a good game-flow.
For regular singel player games I mix between prince and monarch, so I guess my skill is somewhere between these levels.
