Civ4 Vanilla Earth maps for Warlords

It looks like the Civ4 Vanilla earth maps are not included in Warlords. But that's not a big problem, because Warlords is downward compatible in this regard and only the file endings have to be adjusted and the maps have to be transferred into the PublicMaps folder of Warlords. On top if it I have added a random earth map named "EarthRandomStarts" where the available Warlords civilizations start at completely random positions.

Download: http://civilized.worldserve.de/download/civ4/maps/PublicMapsWarlords.zip
Procedure: Simply extract the folder "PublicMaps" from the zipfile into the corresponding Warlords directory.
Credits: all original Civ4 Vanilla maps belong to their original authors (Rhye, Trip etc.)

I get an error whenever I open Earth Ice Age don't know if this applies to the other ones.

The game crashes to desktop whenever I try to load up one of these maps.

How did you change the file extensions to work with Warlords, i need to change all my maps also to be compatible???

You need to uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types' under Windows Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options. This should then allow to change 'WorldBuilderSaveFile' to 'CIVWARLORDSWBSAVE'

By the Gods... Can you or someone else tell me what the hell Vanilla is? I am new to the forum and would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me where I could read up on the mod.

Vanilla simply means the game as it came out of the box. That is without any mods installed.
To make things a little complicated vanilla sometimes means the game as it came out of the box and sometimes it is a reference to the the game with the latest patch installed.

The term is taken from icecream where vanilla is considered without flavor added.
