I think it would be silly to create a sub-forum for an expansion pack. Just because some people don't have a game, it doesn't mean eveybody that does should have to go to a seperate sub-forum.
And knowing the noobs that have come with Civ 4, they'll still post in the wrong forum.

So? Besides, noobs won't want Warlords for a while anyway. They will proabably figure it out before they get the expansion pack.

The problem with a Warlords sub-forum is that you are still going to see lots of overlaps, and lots of re-direct links, which don't look pretty.

Why? Is it a problem that needs addressing right now? It is quite a bit of work for our lovely mods here, and we don't want them getting angry, do we?

The difference here being that Civ4 had multiplayer from the start, and there weren't too many CORE gameplay changes between Vanilla and PTW, just new civs/units and multiplayer. I see Warlords as more of a Conquests-type expansion than PTW.

If we had a subforum with C3C, why not with Warlords?
It would be useful, if only for a short while... Maybe making Vanilla GD a subforum of Warlords would work better (maybe the idea could be polled among the GD crowd).

It would really seem best for there to be a subforum for Warlords. It would cut down on confusion with issues that are different on vanilla and warlords, and would especially ease up on those of us who don't have warlords (yet, in my case). While it's also short term it might cutdown on how fast theads drop of the front page in the general discussions. While I realise the current peak won't last for long I've seen about 3 pages worth of new threads pop up in a single day.
As to the issue of overlapping issues, that didn't seem much of a problem with the Conquests forum. That system seemed to work quite well. It might not need to be left indefinitely, but it would be a real help at least until the majority of people have either upgraded or stopped playing (again, like the Conquests forum).
