I want Pericles as the second Greek leader, and I want him to be creative and financial. I realize that he was not included because the game's constructers thought it would unbalance the game, but if they feel that is a problem they could make him optional. As so many other things are. "No Pericles". "Include Pericles". "Possible Pericles." Some people would enjoy the challenge of trying to win against him, after playing as him, others to simply take the risk. And, of course, it could be great fun to play *as* Pericles. And I don't mean a scenario, I mean as an option in the main game.

Just out of curosity, how would he be unbablanced simply by virtue of being Pericles? Or are you talking about his traits, which were Catherine's traits in Vanilla cIV?

He's unbalanced because if you are in war before you discover Medicine, you automatically lose the game because your leader dies.

I think he was considered unbalanced because of his traits in combination with his strong, early Unique Unit. Catherine's UU, you will recall, comes rather late in the game and was furthermore nerfed in Warlords.

We'll see which traits Pericles will have. Or has Firaxis made an announcement about that?

Well, to be honest, I don't think Perikles is convincing as the second Greek leader. I would much rather have a leader who was a pan-Hellene. Perikles was a leader of factionalism.

If we view Greece as Athens, I may put Perikles a bit higher, but I'm not sure if he is even the best Athenian choice out there -- there are many good ones (Solon, Cleisthenes, Themistocles, even Piesistratus off the bat).

I would certainly prefer Cimon, who was a pan-Hellene and an Athenian and was more successful.

Why are you obsessed with Pericles?????

Cimon was more successful? He was thrown out of Sparta when he sent Athenians to assist them put down a revolt, and he was also ostracized from Athens. Solon and Cleisthenes don't come close to a pan-Hellenic leader. What about the Thebans during their height just before King Phillip II formed the League of Corinth? Epaminondas (I think that's how you spell his name)...during his time, most of Greece was under the Theban-dominated Boeotian League or was allied with them.

I really don't think Greece needs a third leader.

Only in a Civ with more leader traits would I give Greece a third leader. I have a file that has 36 Civs with 67 leaders (right now...I'm still debating on a few new leaders to bring the total up to 70) that I would like to see for Civ5--and all I need are two new leader traits. I'll post it sometime here.

Sounds pretty good.
