Training
You can train your Battalions to better shape by spending 2 spending points per level per Batallion.
(NOTE : When you do this, you are doing it per battallion, your entire army does not improve.)
Ships are not trained, just upgraded from Galleys to sail ships.

Anarchy, Civil War, Disorderly, Order, Calm, Very Calm
PROJECTS
Local equivalent of wonders. You tell me what it does and I tell you how much to spend. (there is no required minimum ammount of time, just money you need to spend to complete it)
HEIRS AND DIPLOMACY
In the 'Heirs' stat, you will either have masculine or femenine heirs (prince/princess). Their porpuse in this game is that when you arrange their marriage with the heir of another state, it symbolizes an allience with that nation. Alliences can still be done w/out arranging the marriage of heirs but those will not be seen as serious (and i wont really keep up w/ those). If you continue to succesfully marry your heirs with those of another clan, both clans might merge into one (NPC powers).
Having blood ties to another royal house can be useful as it allows you to claim someone elses throne.
To arrange a marriage you must:
A: have at least one heir on your stats.
B: The target nation must have a heir (of the opposite sex) in their stat
Once you have arranged the marriage of your heir, they will dissapear from the stat and the formal allience will be signed.
You will get something between 1 to 3 heirs every two turns. It is however NOT under your control.
THE CHURCH
At the games start there is only 2 faiths. That of Catholic Christians and Islam. (the Orthodox church will appear later). be careful with your actions regarding religion as it is the thing that drives nations forward in this period.
EXCOMMUNICATION: If the Papacy excommunicates you (for whatever reason) It allows any catholic nation to declare a crusade agaisnt you. If you share blood lines (through past arranged marriages) with an excommunicated power, it gives you legitimacy in the eyes of others to invade and take that country (if you succesfully defeat their armies!). The papacy will give out a warning before excommunicating you.
CRUSADES: Crusades can be called by paying an ammount of money to the papacy (this number depends). Once you are in a crusade to capture certain territory, you might get free batallions and your nobles receive a combat bonus. note that crusades cant be called againt other catholic powers (unless they are excommunicated)
Muslim powers can call up Jihads. They do not require any payment, but may only be used to regain a lost territory.
