Hmm I don't know yet but I never ever enabled Vassagle,
I sometimes like Merchantilsm
Ambientism?

Pacifism... Plainly put i have NEVER used it. The support cost is too much for a warmonger like me.

Nationhood is a close second, there are better civics by that time, but i have used it once.

Wow, i cant beileve someone voted serfdom. Sometimes slavery is better at the time but to use it almost never?

edit: What is ambientism???

I guess I'm different.
I stuck with mercantalism, to avoid free market.
I stuck with orginized religion to avoid theocracy
I stuck with serfdom to avoid caste system.

Ive never used caste system either. But when im a spiritual civ i use theocracy alot.

Mercantilism is often pretty useful. It depends what you're trying to accomplish. Also, whether you're in Representation and/or Caste System.

"Ambientalism" must be what in English is "Environmentalism". That, and Serfdom, are virtually useless.

On reflection, I want to change my vote. I voted for Serfdom, but I could imagine using it sometime, if I were Spiritual and could easily switch back and forth to Slavery. I can't imagine ever using Environmentalism. First, because the game is gone by the time you get it. Secondly, because the forests and jungles are gone by the time you get it. Thirdly, because even if the game is continuing, more health and happiness wouldn't be particularly useful at that stage.

Suppose so, it'd make sense. I just really wish I could be playing RIGHT NOW!!!
I could also imagine what a non-religious nation with state property and police state might be like.

I have used every single civic except enviromentalism. By the time i get to medicine, I already have plenty of health and happiness.

Caste system is super powerful. It can keep your science rate at 100% during conquests. Use a GS to bulb philosophy, go to Pacifism and you can crank out huge numbers of GP. Turn it on early game, spit out a bunch of scientists and merchants and watch your tech lead skyrocket. One of my favorite tactics is to save all my GP until the early Renaisance age and then go into perpetual golden age mode for about 50 - 100 turns. Modern Armor when everyone else has rifles and grenadiers anyone?

Serfdom is extremely useful if you have alot of jungle or have just conquered a large, mostly undeveloped empire. Turn it on and watch the jungle disapear.

I only user mercantilism in certain situations. By the time I get banking, ive created the bulk of my cheap GP so the extra specialist doesnt really do much. I use it if my empire is a trading crossroad or if i am really large. Depriving the AI of foreign trade routes is very useful.

How is Police State not the most worthless other than the starting ones?

Between Representation and US, is there really a late game choice?

Tribalism I use for about dozen or 2 turns depending if I start with mining then its off to slavery.

Never use pacifism, too costy. But it may just be that i dont know when to use it...

I voted Pacafism. The extra support costs are pretty bad, but also the competion in that column. I have never preffered the 100% GPP to 25% buildings, 2 exp. or 10% science.

Other cometition is;
Environmentalism, but very occasionally I have been glad of the extra health just as I am able to build factories, coal plants, dry docks and laboratories.
Serfdom, but occasionally it is good to quickly develop newly conquered land.
I have not used Nationallism, but I have heard good strategies to produce lots of units with drafting (with the shakespears theater).

Mercantism can be very powerfull, esp. if you have reprasentation and not many open borders.

Pacifism is in my opinion one of the best civic if you are going for a cultural victory, doubling GPP is really huge if you have built a lot of wonders or you can afford a lot of GP.Using caste system and pacifism can be really powerful as combination.

I've never used Caste System or Slavery. They never seem to fit with my strategy at the time they become available.

Serfdom is one of my favourites!

The only civic I havenever used is Nationalism...Seems pointless...

The only one I have not found a viable use for is ENVIRONMENTALISM. Usually, by the time it becomes available, I have access to plenty of happiness resources so its effects are moot. Every other Civic choice has some great uses when matched up properly to specific situations.
