 Sorry if this is a noob question.
Hi,
I've searched the forums and can't seem to find the answer to my problem. In my most recent warlords game(small map-marathon), I had met the requirements for a Forbidden palace(8 cities- 5 couthouses) however it was only available as a build option in the cities I had founded, I couldn't build it in any of the cities I had conquered, which would have been the best place for it. In cities I had conquered the FP icon was greyed and it said in red that I needed at least 8 cities, but of course I already had more than that as I could build it in my other cities(if I had founded them).

Is this normal? Can you only build a FP in a city you have founded?

Thanks for any help.

There are no stupid questions...

You can build the FP in any city, built or captured. I suspect the problem was that you didn't have a courthouse in the city where you wanted the FP. Even if you have the required number of cities and courthouses in your empire, the FP city has to have a courthouse first.

Thanks for the advice, you were right on, once I build a couthouse in the conquered city, then it becomes possible to build the FP. I'm just curious as to why
a) the game tells me I need 8 cities instead of telling I need to build a courthouse, like when the castle is greyed out and the game tells you you need to build walls first.
b) why it isn't mentionned in the civilopedia that the city must have a couthouse in order to build the FP.

well for the FP you do need i think 6 cities to build it and for b i dont know

Number of cities required for the FP depends on you game settings(map size for sure and maybe game speed as well).

I think the FP does say "Requires Courthouse" when you mouse over it on the city screen, just like Colossus and Hanging Gardens warn you that you need another building.

It totally should. However in my game it didn't have this message, when I moused over it, it said "requires 8 cities". I'll try it again and see.

Most of the tooltips for building requirements are currently broken. The same issue exists with Wall Street, Red Cross, Globe Theater, etc. It's not just you :).

I feel much better now, thanks.:)
You could post in the bug report forum they may be able to fix it in time for the next patch.

EDIT: BTW I like your sig, very witty.
