I'm going to Kirkuk, Iraq

Two days ago, I told my father that I'm tired of just getting the news about Iraq from News networks. Since I was promoted that day, I told him that I want to be able to make more important decisions. I decided that I want to go to Kirkuk to see the situation for myself. He accepted on the condition that I first go to Cairo, Egypt to learn about the culture before I go. So in January, I'm heading over to Cairo, and if he feels that my skills are good enough I'll be heading over to Kirkuk.
 
Take a gun.

There is no way that I'll blend in with the Iraqis. The only way that I'll get them to like me is to convince them that I'm one of the good American.

I thought you were accepted to and attending Harvard? Does that mean your not finishing your semester of school? Frankly, I find it very hard to believe any of the claims you make about your personal life. Please take pictures as proof you were there if you want people to believe this.

Oh yeah, and post pictures for us. Not that we don't trust you, or anything....but pictures are always cool.

Well get Life inusrance. As you are probably well aware Kirkuk is not LA any US personal will be targetted for kidnapping and assaination.

Well then, make sure to comfort the people of Iraq by telling them how growing insurgent/secretarian violence isn't that bad compared to LA.

But didn't you said in your OP that you were going over in January? Anyways, if you really are going, do not make too much direct eye contact and be extremely polite. And be safe!
 
Whats your fathers bussiness? are you going their on bussiness? what i mean is what were you promoted to?

Its a war zone, is it worth going over their for money? or just so you can say "i got my news first hand." Not worth dieing for.

Oh :) Well I wish I could afford to go over there actually. I've been thinking about traveling over there to "see for myself" as well. Money is an issue though.
