v208 Hotseat Fix

In v208 there is a bug where the F6 screen shows the tech tree for the wrong player in hotseat (only).

Attached is a fix for that bug, but please be aware that if you overwrite the original file, your game will not be compatible for multiplayer with people who don't have the fix.

I would therefore recommend that you install the file only if hotseat is essential to you. And even if you do install it, make a backup of the original file so that you can go back to the original files if you decide to play MP.

I do not play hotseat - but maybe this should be stickied. Otherwise it may disappear of the first page within a day or two and those affected may not see it.
 
Hmm...
Maybe it's better to put this in CustomAssets then?
(My Games\Warlords\CustomAssets\python\screens)

To prevent some MP (non-hotseat) games from even loading it...
 
Unfortunately custom assets are not loaded in any type of MP game, including hotseat.
 
Hi:

I'm trying to install this patch to fix the hotseat tech tree and everything I try doesn't seem to be working. Can someone list step by step on how to download this? I've been clicking download and then I'm kind of trying to guess on where to save this file and guess that I can't seem to find the location as nothing is taking hold.

Depending on where you installed the game, the file goes in some place like

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords\Assets\Python\Screens

Don't forget to back up the original file if you want to play MP or GOTM

But about the other dozen hotseat bugs, which are just as serious as this one?

I get the feeling that noone at Firaxis has actually played a complete hotseat game; an observant pair of programmers could completely clean it up after taking notes from just a single game.

The most serious ones are the ones that seriously disadvantage one player versus another, such as the largest catagory of bugs where some things are only shown to certain players; these are royal bummers.

Is there anything I can do to help Firaxis fix these bugs? I am a professional software engineer; is there someone I can send bug reports to? Or is Firaxis in fact not actually interested in fixing them? Inquiring minds want to know!
